Metal Gear Online Servers Updated
We're still not 100% certain of the reasons behind the PlayStation Network maintenance yesterday, but at the very least, we do know the Metal Gear Online servers were updated.
Konami released the details of this update not long after the Network came back online, and frequent MGO players should notice the changes immediately upon logging in. First of all, you will now gain 5 reward points after finishing a round in the auto-matching lobbies "SNAKE:EX", "LIQUID:EX" and "SOLIDUS:EX." Secondly, those aforementioned lobbies are only available for those who purchased the "MGO Gene Expansion," so there's more incentive to make that move now. Lastly, a new Survival Lobby, "MK2," has been added, and of course, we assume the requisite stability and reliability updates were delivered as well. How can you have a server update without some of that? If any avid MGO fans out there notice other changes, feel free to let us know and we'll add it to the story here.
Also, on the subject of the maintenance, has anyone noticed anything different after the Network came back? Anything on their PS3s that wasn't there before? In scanning the 'Net for details, not many users seem to have recognized much of anything, and the reports are still mostly erratic and unreliable. Weird.
