Life With PlayStation Update By SCEA

Thanks to an update by Noam Rimon, SCEA Sr. Development Manager, over at the official PlayStation blog, we now have "okay and good news" regarding the upcoming application Life with PlayStation.

First of all, Rimon says they're "still pushing some paperwork" so we're going to have to wait a bit longer for it to arrive. We've seen many questions concerning the eventual launch of Life, and that's the only answer you're going to get. But the good news is that it supposedly looks great, and remember, this will be an absolutely free service that can be accessed easily via the XMB. If you're not familiar yet, Life with PlayStation will "feed live content to your PS3 with updates on news and weather on a visually stunning and interactive global map." So essentially, you can use it to check the weather anywhere in the world, or you can check out the most important global news on a daily basis.

Lastly, Rimon has confirmed that this application will also implement the popular Folding@Home project. This means that while you're checking out Life, you'll automatically be "helping Stanford researchers cure diseases like Alzheimer's and various types of cancer." Obviously, we assume you actually have to have Folding installed on your PS3 for this to happen, but you get the gist. So that's the Life with PlayStation update. :)

I'm looking forward to this one. It's surprising how fast the ps3 loads up compared to pc's so like getting the weather in 2 mins sounds better than getting it in 5 while dealing with vista.

It should be for both, but as that blog only officially relates to North America, I can't be 100% positive.

I believe it is for both... It wouldn't make any sense to give one something like this and leave out the other. That's like saying I am going to back the best cookies, give some to Ben and leave Arnold nothing, it's mean and makes no sense lol :P

Don't worry Arnold. If I ever do bake cookies ill divide them evenly amungst you two.

Cool cheers guys. I was just worried because sometimes NA gets certain things in the PS Store and we don't because of liscensing or something, but that's good to hear.

Nice analogy Tatsujin, but as we all know, sometimes Japan likes to dangle that cookie in front of our noses and tease us with it ;)

Probably just the main-stream ones like sky and bbc, and maybe cnn or whatever.

"okay and good news... we are just getting a 3 months delay launching Life with Playstation, remember Home? Anyone? It's a service that we announced more than 2 years ago and it keeps getting delayed for reasons unknown"

I loce Sony and my PS3, but for once, please deliver on time your promises, if Sony keeps with their mouths shut and only deliver news when the times are indeed accurate, this would be much better

As always it boils down to "want it buggy now or less buggy later?" I'll take less bugs, later. If they launch and it crashes under the crush then it gets bad reviews, customers think it does not rock and they find it hard to recover credibility. So they wait, make sure it's robust and then launch.
