Resistance 2 Official Beta Details

Ah, there's such a feeling of comfort and relief when we see official SCEA press releases in our inbox. There's always a sense of, "whew, no more rumors or speculation; just cold hard facts." And in turn, we immediately turn around and share the info with you, 'cuz that's kinda what we do around here.

Anyway, the first part of the press release detailed and confirmed the existence of a Collectors Edition for Resistance 2, but that information came over the weekend thanks to an Amazon.com listing. Essentially, the official word clarifies everything stated in that article, although we can add that you'll also receive a digital copy of Issue #0 of the Resistance comic book series. SCEA then fills us in on the upcoming public beta, which we've talked about for months. We had heard gamers would be granted access if they subscribed to Qore and if they pre-ordered the game, but as the beta codes weren't out at that point, it was difficult to confirm anything.

But here's the final news: the beta will begin in "early October," and starting this month, "players in the U.S. and Canada can gain premier access to the public beta by pre-ordering Resistance 2 at a GameStop retail store or online at http://www.gamestop.com." You will receive the same premiere access for being a Qore subscriber, if you'd rather go that route. SCEA did confirm that if you purchased Qore Episode 3 (and not the annual subscription), you're still guaranteed a spot in the beta. But if don't pre-order or subscribe to Qore, you'll still have a shot at the open access "after the premier access period." If you'd like simply submit your information at, http://beta.myresistance.net/apply.

And that's that. We have no idea how many people will be allowed into the beta, but we imagine a whole lot will want a spot. Therefore, if you haven't done it already, we suggest that you get a move on and nail down your access!  And oh, by the way, SCEA has re-confirmed Resistance 2 will launch on November 4.

Yeah they had it for a week, but that's closed and it's such a small amount it's not worth counting, it was something like 1 eu person to every 5 US person in the closed beta, and now, there's no way to get in the public one (if you're from the EU) :/

Let us know if any GameStops in your area have the beta codes yet. The register biscuits around here seem clueless.

I few of my more die-hard gamer acquaintances went to PAX over the weekend and said they were kinda disappointed in R2, which kinda worries me. On the plus side, they also said GEARS OF WAR 2 for Xbox 360 wasn't all that great and that it should be called GEARS OF WAR 1.2. They said FALLOUT 3 blew BOTH those games away...and they loved LITTLE BIG PLANET.
