Mirror's Edge PS3 To Enjoy Exclusive Downloadable Content

We've already cleared up the misinformation regarding Mirror's Edge and PlayStation 3 exclusivity; supposedly, SCEE president David Reeves confirmed this in an interview. But that must've been a misinterpretation of his comments, as EA later confirmed with us that DICE's promising game is scheduled for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. However, PS3 owners can indeed expect one little bonus.

According to Eurogamer, Sony has confirmed that "PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title," and a spokesperson said that "exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network." This sounds very similar to the deal Microsoft struck with Take-Two and Rockstar concerning Grand Theft Auto IV (although admittedly on a much larger scale). We don't yet know what kind of exclusive content to expect, or whether 360 or PC owners will get different content, but we expect all those details to come within the next few months. Mirror's Edge continues to be one of the most anticipated projects in the industry, simply because the developers appear to be tackling a concept that is relatively new and refreshing. Originality seems to be on the wane as of late - come on, Team ICO, show us what you've got! - but with titles like Mirror's Edge and Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain in 2009, those who pine for unique experiences may soon be satisfied.

As soon as we hear anything more on this exclusive content for the PS3 version of Mirror's Edge, we'll be sure to let you know about it. And we're also hoping for a release date some time soon, too!

*** Sony has confirmed that "PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title," ***

Now that's more like it! Taking Microsoft to the arena with their own business tactics! Dig into those pockets!

Unique doesn't equal a better gaming experience. But Kudos to those companies willing to risk it.

DLC is always a plus especially if it's free.

Sony didnt pay for this content did they??Id be shocked and horrified if they did..one of the main reasons im loyal to sony is because they dont pay out a shipload of cash to stop gamers on another platform enjoying a great game..or content!!!

Sony's business practice is to not pay for anything from other companies for exclusivity. Unless that policy changed they did not pay for this exclusivity, they made a deal in some other fashion.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of DLC will be available. With games like Soul Calibur 4, the obvious examples include alternate costumes, with Burnout Paradise, more cars, but with mirrors edge, no obvoius applications show themselves. this could be interesting...

Ya know the idea's with this one seem good, this could be a rent first type of thing. The concept is fresh and who knows it could better than any of us could have expected!
