Mirror's Edge PS3 To Enjoy Exclusive Downloadable Content
We've already cleared up the misinformation regarding Mirror's Edge and PlayStation 3 exclusivity; supposedly, SCEE president David Reeves confirmed this in an interview. But that must've been a misinterpretation of his comments, as EA later confirmed with us that DICE's promising game is scheduled for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. However, PS3 owners can indeed expect one little bonus.
According to Eurogamer, Sony has confirmed that "PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title," and a spokesperson said that "exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network." This sounds very similar to the deal Microsoft struck with Take-Two and Rockstar concerning Grand Theft Auto IV (although admittedly on a much larger scale). We don't yet know what kind of exclusive content to expect, or whether 360 or PC owners will get different content, but we expect all those details to come within the next few months. Mirror's Edge continues to be one of the most anticipated projects in the industry, simply because the developers appear to be tackling a concept that is relatively new and refreshing. Originality seems to be on the wane as of late - come on, Team ICO, show us what you've got! - but with titles like Mirror's Edge and Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain in 2009, those who pine for unique experiences may soon be satisfied.
As soon as we hear anything more on this exclusive content for the PS3 version of Mirror's Edge, we'll be sure to let you know about it. And we're also hoping for a release date some time soon, too!
