Capcom: PS3 Has Hit "Full Swing"

At first, some major publishers were content to wait until the PlayStation 3 had increased its user base. Capcom was one of these publishers; gamers will remember several Xbox 360 exclusives, like Dead Rising and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. But now that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has broken through for the PS3, Capcom is happy to return to their multiplatform role.

According to MaxConsole, Capcom believes that Konami's masterpiece has put Sony's next-gen machine in "full swing," and they also acknowledge the loaded upcoming software lineup for the PS3. Future blockbusters like Resident Evil 5 will most certainly be on the PS3 as well as the 360, although Capcom reinforces their desire to support a variety of different platforms, including the Wii and DS. Here's the quote in question:

"We believe that PS3 has finally reached full swing after looking at the success of 'Metal Gear Solid 4,' as well as future large-scale title lineups. In addition, some reduction in the PS3's price was announced at the 2008 E3, and we can expect its spread to increase by next March when our 'Resident Evil 5' for PS3 will be released. Moreover, as we are not only focusing on PS3, we would also like to spread our supply of software evenly between Wii and Xbox 360 while their markets in the world increase in a similar manner to PS3."

Some early PS3 owners were a tad miffed at Capcom for seemingly ignoring Sony's console at first, but hey, the publisher just needed more of a reason to get involved. Well, as they just stated, there are reasons aplenty, so don't worry about future Capcom projects...the PS3 won't be excluded.

"Despite the fact that we royally ****** over PS3 in the beginning and continue to **** it over (though not royally) MGS4, a game that is higher in quality than anything we could ever dream of making came out as an exclusive on PS3 and outsold all of our games combined."

Thank you for your pointless comment, Capcom. We all gained a lot from it.

Some people are stupid. Look at the PS1 and PS2 success. As if Sony are dumb and money hungry enough (like Microsoft) to create a console that is unreliable, still past gen, and updated like iPods. If anyone was smart, they would see that the PS3 was never in line to fail. Sure it was expensive, but at least it was worth it! Why pay $500 (AU) for a console that has a 33% fail rate? Sony are a legitimate company and create top of the range electricals in every category they choose.

It would be nice if they would release a version of Dead Rising on the PS3,and while they're at it fix the crappy aiming system they had for the 360 version.I had the 360,well actually three 360's thx to the red ring of death and couldn't wait for the PS3 to hit store shelves, now all i play is the PS3 and am a huge fan of Capcom games so this is definitly good news to me.

Now if they'll only stop programming games on a base PC architecture and start taking advantage of what the PS3 has to offer... heh.

It's just BUSINESS,everybody wanna make money, besides am sure most devs n gamesites didn't wanna make the games industry monopolised by sony, all dat early luv for 360 was just to balance thangs,am sure they was like "Dang! sony sold 140 mill ps2's whiles xbox got no attention the last time around,we gotta get all the support to microsoft n wii the next-gen or thangs will get borin!"
I don't blame these devs, they just wanna balance thangs n at the same time maximize profits but still ps3 is gonna rule!!!

Capcom had better make up for it with RE5 or commit japanese ritual suicide. Also, some gamers could care less about business!

Pff, Capcom is just the latest in a long stream of companies that have decided on a poor business model for this gen. Namely, to alienate fans in favor of a bigger possible base. The issue that arises is if they don't deliver to the fans they have been neglecting (and MGS4 goes a ways to accomplishing this IMO)then the fans will go elsewhere. The question is: was a few sales to 360 fanboys worth pissing off serious gamers who recognize the PS3's technical superiority?

It's ironic that they will only start making more titles for PS3 now that their only game which was too technically impressive for 360 wound up selling a bunch of systems.

If Capcom wants to be in my good graces again, they're gonna have to release (or announce) a Monster Hunter title for the PS3. Until that happens, they're not getting a single cent of my hard earned cash.

i don't ever hear much ps3 bashing from japan, they might have better things to do like enjoying their games...especially their portable systems

oh they better rethink having monster hunter only on the wii n put it back on the ps3 as well
