Infinity Ward Prepping "Double XP" Weekend For CoD4

Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War may be arriving later this year, but that doesn't mean Infinity Ward is gonna forget about the millions of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare fans...especially those who play online. There are a lot of ya, and they want there to be more of ya.

According to CVG, the CoD4 developer is currently working on a special PSN/Live promotion for the weekend of September 12-14, and lucky you, it should involve Double XP. That's just what it sounds like; for everything you accomplish while playing online, you will receive double the usual amount of experience. This will allow many new players to rocket up the ranks a great deal faster, although it's not 100% confirmed just yet. Said Infinity Ward over at the official CoD4 blog:

"I'm currently working on getting everything organized and together for an upcoming Xbox Live / PSN promotion we have coming up the weekend of Sept. 12th - 14th. I will have exact details on what it is in the near future but I have a gut feeling it'll have Double XP attached to it for all those hungry for some power-leveling on Call of Duty 4."

And if they work fast enough, we'll also receive new playlists for Double XP weekend. The blog states the playlists are coming, but they may or may not be ready for this promotion, so stay focused on the idea of speedy leveling up. If for whatever bizarre reason you have yet to play one of 2007's best games, now may be the time to run down to the store and pick it up. Because if you want to be part of the bonus experience two weekends from now, you'll kinda need a copy.
