White Knight Chronicles Releases On December 11 In Japan?
After making a relatively big splash at last year's Tokyo Game Show, Level 5's White Knight Chronicles dropped off the radar. We looked high and low for new info (that rhymes), but we always came up empty. However, the first glimmer of hope arrived last week when the game's official site listed the words, "The Days of Awakening Are Coming Soon". Then, we heard a rumor that the game would certainly be in attendance at TGS 2008, so has all that led up to this?
According to Scrawl, the latest Famitsu actually has a Japanese release date for White Knight Chronicles! Obviously, we can't be certain of this until we hear the official word (perhaps on the way at TGS), but it's certainly encouraging if true. The date is set as December 11, 2008, and if accurate, we're all kinds of excited. We're not expecting a worldwide simultaneous launch - this just doesn't happen with JRPGs - but if it drops in Japan in December, can the U.S. and Europe expect it a month or two later? Or, if they can speed up the localization process, maybe the difference will only be a matter of weeks! ...okay, we're just reaching on that last bit; that probably isn't possible. But either way, any release date at all right now is a good sign, especially with the previous evidence we've acquired over the past few weeks. It's all small and seemingly even insignificant, but hey, we're clingin' to the lifeline.
This could be the first huge RPG for the PlayStation 3, especially with so many other projects so far off in the distance. And besides, haven't they been working on this game for several years now? They must be nearing the finish line!
