Dead Space Pushed Up Again
Well, this is certainly a nice change of pace. When a release date changes, it usually changes to a later date; delays are a common occurrence in this industry. But it's a rare pleasure to see a promising title steadily rising up the calendar. Even if we are only talking about a week.
According to Gamernode, EA has just announced that Dead Space has popped forward a bit; previously scheduled to release on October 21, it will now arrive for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 14 (the PC version still drops on the 21st). And actually, if you trace back the release date history, the original launch date was October 31, so this bad boy keeps inching closer and closer. We've been hearing nothing but good things about Dead Space, and we're awfully intrigued by the premise: some like to call it Resident Evil in outer space. You know how the original Alien movie was more about tension, atmosphere and thrill-a-licious moments? Well, while you can expect a good deal more gore in EA's project, what we're most looking forward to is that engaging, immersive environment. With the power afforded by next-gen hardware, we should be seeing more of this in the coming years.
Anyway, if you're looking for something to play before the blockbusters in Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2 hit in November, Dead Space might be a heck of a good option. Besides, we have to wait until 2009 for Resident Evil 5, so fans of freakiness should keep a sharp eye...
