Infamous Looking Good, Developer Praises PlayStation 3

The more developers spend time with the PlayStation 3, the more they return to the media, explaining how impressed they are with the machine's capability. Earlier in the system's lifespan, there was a whole lot of complaining (as usual), but with time has come satisfaction and excitement on the part of designers.

Take, for example, Sucker Punch game director Nate Fox, who recently spoke to VideoGamer.com at last month's Leipzig Games Convention. The studio clearly loves the PS3, as they've been working on Infamous and have nothing but good things to say. Sucker Punch delivered the accomplished and relatively popular Sly Cooper titles for the PS2 last generation, but with Sony's new console, the team seeks to take advantage of all that added power. Said Fox:

"It's great to have that much more detail in the world. You have a lot more characters running around, particle effects. Everything you want, more, more, more, the hardware can take it. I think you can see it. The graphic quality of the game is really, really strong."

Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain seems to be hogging the spotlight for 2009 thus far, and most every gamer on earth is well aware of titles like God of War 3 and Killzone 2. But don't forget about another 2009 project that should turn a few heads; Infamous is yet another PS3 exclusive that could entice more undecideds to purchase the console. We can't wait for more information on the game, and we expect to see more details come our way over the next few months. Stay tuned.

Infamous is going to be pretty awesome I bet. It looks great and seems like alotta fun. Especially with the electricity. So I'm almost positive if Heavy Rain pulls a great control scheme this game will be revolutionary. I was reading about how the control scheme is kind of "different" It appears as though 2009 is going to be another great year for the PS3.

Definately a breath of fresh air. We've all seen weak devs go the "easy" route and just dump its title on the 360, but maybe if devs like this continue to speak up about the PS3's superior abilities then we will see more gravitating towards it if for no other reason than to make their game that much better. If you've been following Infamous, youll know that Sony is very hands-on with this studio. To quote Pedro "I'd like to see more of that."

After seeing Infamous in action at PAX, I am more pumped than ever for it! The interaction with the game world looks so fluid, and the electric powers are all wicked cool! Definitely a day 1 buy!

alot of people compare this game to those other 2 games...I can't remember what they're called at the moment lol but its not GTA4 but it was that game for the 360 that you were like cops that you can "buff" up with powers to pick up trucks, jump super high, etc. But I think this'll be a different game even if people think it looks similar. I mean Saints Row looked like GTA so wtf?

I really hope this game is a lot of fun and at the same time does not grow old. If it's anything like GTA, since this is a sandbox game I think, I know I will be bored rather quickly. But then again, GTA never had magic so who knows.

This game should be great and to Minishmaru the game referring to is Crackdown. And yes the game reminds me of Infamous a little bit.

I think we're going to hear more from developers as they're experience with the PS3 grows. Good for Sucker Punch leading the way like this... Maybe I'll buy their game just to support leaders in the industry ... hope I'm pleasantly surprised by the game too.

Ben there is a typo at the end: "But don't forget about another 2009 project that should turn a few heads; Infamous". The mistake being that it's impossible to forget about this game. :P.

Maybe this developer should head over to Pandemic Studio and give 'em a couple of lessons on how to make a decent game.
