Three Unrevealed Characters In Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe?

It would take Mortal Kombat and DC Comics fans quite a while to list off all the possible characters that could show up in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Heck, you could be there for an hour thinking up potential participants for the ambitious fighting title, and we still don't have an official roster.

Well, now that a rumored list of Xbox 360 Achievements for the game has been leaked to the Internet, we have learned of three new characters that may go toe-to-toe in MK vs. DC. We already know about the likes of Superman, Batman, Scorpion, etc., but according to Joystiq, the list of Achievements also indicate the existence of the following: Darkseid, Lex Luthor, and Baraka, all of whom are well known in the annals of comics and video game history. Of course, one of the first questions that come to mind regarding this game is this- will the balance be appropriate? In other words, will it turn out that either the DC heroes or MK fighters hold the upper hand? This would not only be a major drawback for the game, but it'll also piss off the legion of fans who are on the losing end of the deal. What would really happen if Darkseid battled Scorpion? Seriously? We all know about Superman vs. Lex Luthor, but do the MK characters have a shot against the legendary might of the DC heroes and heroines?

We're hoping Midway releases the full list of available characters for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe very soon, and if they do, we'll tell ya all about it. In the meantime, we'll just use our imaginations and concoct some epic confrontations in our minds...

I don't think it's just rumoured Ben. Kotaku has a link directly to the achievements on live.com, the network that the whole achievements system is tied into. As long as you have a Live ID you can log in and directly look at the achievements so it certainly seems as genuine as it could be, and I don't know of any differences between the PS3 and 360 versions.

They seem to be using the catch-all concept of "magic" to explain why mortal MK characters can go toe to toe with DC superbeings. It's about the best they could do with the concept, I guess.

I understand that, of course, but unless it's straight from a publisher's mouth, we have to be careful and call it unconfirmed. :)
