Sony Hypes PS3 Holiday Lineup

As all you avid PSXE readers know, we've already brought you the August NPD numbers, and in looking at the responses, it seems each member of the "Big 3" is pleased...to some extent.

As for SCEA CEO Jack Tretton, he's pretty satisfied with Sony's showing last month, but reminds us all that there's plenty more to come. The PS3 arguably has the best holiday lineup for 2008, and Sony isn't about to let this slide without a bit of good old-fashioned hype. Here's what Tretton had to say during his NPD response:

"We had yet another strong month for PlayStation in August, which validates that consumers are indeed recognizing the long-term value that PS3 offers as both a gaming and home entertainment device. We're looking forward to a solid holiday season and are excited to offer a string of unmatched content to consumers in the coming months with LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Confrontation, Resistance 2, and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift." Yes indeed, it looks to be a very big holiday season for the PS3, and that's good news for all owners and soon-to-be owners. Remember, this is only the start, and if you're wondering if the console exclusive has gone the way of the dodo, take a close look at that list. Then look a little further at the likes of Killzone 2, God of War 3, Infamous, Gran Turismo 5, and more. Don't worry, the exclusive isn't dead yet...provided first-party teams keep working. ;)

what? i thought gran turismo 5 won't be out in like...3 years... LoL.. I'm more excited in getting RE5 and FFXIII than killzone though. but i guess im still buying it cause it looks pretty slick

Man, why does no one ever mention Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm when talking about upcoming exclusives. The gameplay videos of this one look absolutely sick! I mean, I had no intention of buying this game even after playing the demo, but after seeing the gameplay, it's easily one of my most anticipated games. I can't believe people are still sleeping on this one.

i just saw it..it looks good.. though i'm not much of a naruto fan. but yeah, after seeing the gameplay, im kinda tempted to get it.. but isn't naruto a little older now? lol.. he's still that little kid in the gameplay i saw

lol! I agree! I wasn't interested either until i watched the trailer and played the demo with a friend. Gotta say I'm more interested in Naruto than R2 or Killzone 2. Well, I'm bias. I don't like FPS that much.

Naruto is nowhere on my list but that's because I'm not a fan of anime, well except for a few. Like Afro Samurai. Might give the game a rent when it comes out.

I am hoping you JUST FORGOT about mentioning FFvXIII and NOT that it suddenly just became multiplat. Not only that but I have to agree with Troy that Naruto is starting to look largely popular and amazingly very very solid gameplay-wise. Oh and not to mention Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles. MMmmmmm my Playstation is going to get it's fill this year. YES!!!

Very True but I was going for the "looking whats ahead" view. Cause I don't believe Killzone 2 and Gran Turismo is coming out "this holiday season" as well.

lol, people get upset when ya don't mention their favorite exclusives it seems.
Listen people, they can't mention every single title under the sun. So they'll only mention the real big ones. and remember, just because you like a game doesn't mean it's a "big one".

I think Sony has the best game line up for the holiday season.

I'm a little sad because my 360 is collecting dust, I really hope GeoW2 last more than 5 hours.

Naruto was poor the demo proved this and it's a no fun repetitive game by the looks of it. Get Naruto on Xbox 360 Naruto ultimate ninja storm doesn't deserve PS3 exclusively. Dear God get Dragonball back to Playstation.

Im getting all these first party games hopefully especially LBP and R2

Nelo, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm is PS3 exclusive because other platforms have their own exclusive games. The other fact is this game has its OWN unique battle system and it covers from episode 1 to 120 or 140. With how they've actually done the game and developed it? Did you know it hyped up tons of journalists already? Even EGM have their own section wtih Naruto and they can't wait to get their hands on it they even mentioned even 360 Naruto games don't match up with this one. On second thought, if you are going to reply back, do some research ... like visiting their official website, or checking Wikipedia with Naruto's games, read on it and get back here. Don't "assume" and "think" and "it should be" ...

I played the demo of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm and I can't why this game is on anyones radar? Maybe if your a fan of the cartoon but it still doesn't make up for a good game.

If Sony wants to compete for second place in the console wars, then they better find a way to get the PS3 between $199 and $299 otherwise MS will win second place with sony pulling up the rear a very very very distant 3rd place !
