Call Of Duty 6 Returns To Infinity Ward
Aw, they're taking turns! Isn't that cute? Share and share alike, we always say.
As most of you well know, Infinity Ward developed last year's award-winning Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, while Treyarch (who developed CoD3) have stepped up to handle the next installment for this year, Call of Duty: World at War. Well, to continue this trend, Activision CEO Mike Griffith has confirmed that the blockbuster franchise will once again return to Infinity Ward for Call of Duty 6. According to ShackNews, Griffith revealed as much with this statement: "In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6." That's good enough for us, and it'll be interesting to see which developer becomes the fan favorite. For now, it's certainly IW, just because CoD4 turned out be such a huge phenomenon, but we've heard nothing but good things about World at War, so you never know...
Griffith tentatively scheduled the sixth entry for "calendar year 2010," which also fits in with this trend of one Call of Duty title per year. They can do this because they keep switching the developer back and forth; one team always gets a year to start working on the next one! Seems like a smart move. Anyway, expect Call of Duty: World at War to arrive on November 5 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and PC.
