Bioshock PS3 Just Like Bioshock 360

Here's a general rule of thumb: if a multiplatform game is developed simultaneously with the appropriate dedicated time for each console, the final result for each console will be nigh-on identical. However, if the game is developed entirely on one console and then ported to another at a later date, the ported version is almost never as good. On the surface, this rule means bad news for Bioshock PS3, which releases next month.

But have no fear, PS3 owners. Unlike the situation facing most other Xbox 360-PS3 ports, 2K Games had always planned to bring this game to Sony's platform, and they've actually worked hard all year to make the experience no less thrilling for PS3 users. To cement this point, the MTV Multiplayer blog said that Bioshock on the PS3 feels exactly like Bioshock on the 360, and that's most certainly not a bad thing. Furthermore, with the added content - Trophies, Survivor difficulty mode, the new puzzle rooms, etc. - this means the PS3 version should be the best option available for all those who have yet to play this stellar title. Thankfully, we won't be sacrificing technical accomplishment for bonus goodies, which is what some were initially concerned about. Don't worry; 2K won't let us down, and we appreciate the work they've done to keep Bioshock as fantastic as it was last year.

Essentially, it all boils down to this- in the MTV article, the author said that after playing the PS3 version, "all it did was make me want to play Bioshock again." And in reality, that's all we can really ask for. Can't wait!

Sorry, it's been out a year on the 360, they should've delivered more. Not buying a timed exclusive that looks exactly the same a year later.

That's not the point. This isn't designed for those who already played it; this release is for those who didn't get a chance, and have a PS3.

I understand Ben, it's the point to me however. I have virtually every PS3 game that's out there. And I refuse to buy into the 'Timed Exclusive' market. Not going to happen. My roommate has a 360, if I want to play Bioshock, I'll download it for him, burn it to DVD and play it on his Xbox (Modded Xbox).

I will not reward 2K, or any other developer, for delivering the same product, a year after it's originally launched. I expect more from a $60 game, OR, I expect it to cost less. Hopefully, there are others who feel the same, and act in kind, and eventually, the losses these companies will accrue, will change their business practices.

No...clearly you don't understand because it's not about you or anyone that has it for the shitbox 360...The point that he's trying to get across is that this game is for the PS3 fanbase and thats it. You don't need to reward anyone because your opinion in the end frankly doesn't matter to anyone.

i dont agree with the vehemence of you comment. did microsoft pay them more money to have a timed exclusive? if so, then they are getting more money overall, than if they released them all at the same time. enabling them to make better games in the future.

I think because of having access to the 360, ofcourse $60 will seem too much for a game that we can get for a third of that price, and free in some cases. But if i didn't have a 360, 60 is cheaper than the price of a 360, and a used copy of the game. That being said, I'll probably be getting a used copy for the 360, knowing the games are identical now.

Dont forget the PS3 version has more content so you will be slighting yourself getting the 360 version. If you have never played it before or finished the PS3 version is a no brainer if you got both

Let us not decend into a pointless argument about trying to cripple game companies so that they change business practices. In most case these type of protests don't get very far as companies like 2K will have a number of games on the shelves for various platforms, that should be enough protection from the odd rebel here and there :)

Bioshock was a great title for the 360, good gameplay value, and doing a Ps3 version was a no brainer. I predict it will shift a minimum of a million copies, probably more, and satisfy many Ps3 owners out there. For me personally though, I will save the money for a few upcoming titles I want like CODV, World At War and Killzone 2 at the very least. LBP and GT5 are still so so with regards to what I want to spend my money on first...

Also MornelitheVT, I don't think it is wise to talk about piracy and modding on this comments forum, this is a legitimate site, I am sure the mods here would appreciate it if we keep clean and legal. Right Ben?

@ Robinhood - In the future then, I may play these 'great games' until then. No thanks.

@ Aftab - Agreed.

@ Qubex - I will partake in any argument I feel strongly enough about. Thus is the case here. As for money et al, I usually have games preordered months in advance. Have had SFIV preordered since July. Resistance 2, since last month. Had MGS4 preordered for many months. etc... I pay out the nose for collector's editions, and so on. So, I put plenty into the industry. In fact, I'm also a Beta tester for Home and SOCOM: Confrontation. How 'bout all of you?

Go ahead and Ban me if you think what I said was un-wise, or against the terms of these blogs. I didn't iterate how it was modded (because I didn't do it), nor where to find instructions on how to mod it. Nor did I indicate where such things would be available for download. I merely mentioned, what I would do, should I desire to play Bioshock, as it will never touch my PS3.

goes to show if you put time in both consoles, their actually abilities are distinctly brought forward.

First of all, this is the second time in a few days I've seen the "blog" comment. Since when did PSXE become a blog...?

Second of all, there's nothing wrong with Mornelithe's comments; his opinions or his own. However, I will say that you're not quite understanding the difference between a multiplatform owner and someone who only owns a PS3. The situation is very different for them, and it has nothing to do with when the game came out. It's new to PS3 owners, and that's that.

And for the record, 2K is in business to make money...as are all businesses. They've done nothing wrong as far as I can see.

I know I'm friggin exicted for this to release! I bought the game for PC the day it came out and after awhile of playing, my laptop failed to run it anymore and so I gave up. Now I finally get the chance to play the rest of the game and play around with all of the xtras. Can't wait!

As for the game not having enough stuff packed with it after being released an entire year later, what else would you possibly want?? Some jumbled crap they put together that doesn't fit the game at all just for that sake? C'mon people, no reason to be negative over Bioshock coming onto the PS3!

I'm not a multi-platform owner either Ben. I only have a PS3. Currently working on constructing a behemoth PC though. Just need to put together the 2300 that it will cost, thankfully, given that I'm not allowing Dell or HP to rape me with additional costs and actually putting the whole thing together from scratch, it's some serious bang for that $ figure ;)

Sorry for the Blog comment, my bad. Will correct my terminology in the future. But, my overall point is, a game that launches a year later, and is the same exact thing that was put out the prior year, is a waste of my time.

I Own a PC and a PS3 only. I bought Bioshock for the PC when it came out and played through it. The whole time I was thinking that it would be really fun on the PS3 even though its a shooter due to its gameplay mechanics. So I will probably get it again as it is a great game! Why do people keep saying its identical when there are new modes and puzzle rooms and stuff?

I have both consoles and bought and played Bioshock on all three difficulties and had a blast every time i played through and have already preordered it for my PS3 and plan to play through the game atleast twice, for the trophies of course, and i think what they are trying to say about it feeling the same is that there won't be any framerate issues and such, period. The game is one of the greatest games i've ever played and anyone who doesn't atleast rent the game and give it a try will be missing out on a great game. The Orange Box was a game that was ported and had some issues on the PS3 and i think that's what they're getting at.Don't judge a game you haven't even played yet is all i'm saying.

I made no judgements on the game itself. If you feel that I did, please feel free to re-read the posts I made. Nowhere in them, do they question the games quality. What I do question, is the fact that it's a year old, and therefore, improvements on the quality _could_ have been made. And yet weren't, because 2K didn't want to bother with actually..you know...putting effort into it. Just another screw the PS community for a year, job. Anyway, I hope everyone who does buy it, enjoys it, but I'm not getting it.

@ SarahPalinMILF - Obviously my opinions matters, as it's reflected in a few of the other frequenters of this website (Not blog). As stated before, anyone who purchases this game, I do hope you enjoy it. Really.

Beyond that, the 'extra' content, seems to be pretty modest, from what's been revealed. It will have all of the current DLC that the 360 has, and trophy support...which is exactly the same as the 360 achievements. Again, nothing really done that shows me a $60 game in Q3 2008. Maybe Q1. But not after MGS4.

I'm personally really looking forward to this, I'm not really a FPS fan, but i admire the visuals of Bioshock (The only other FPS i can enjoy is Resistance.) I played it briefly on my step dads 360, & thought it was fantastic, i rarely ge a chance to go on the 360 so i never got a chance to play it fully, & now i can ^_^

Stop winging about it being a port, did you read the article! The quality is the same as the the 360. How can you complain?

Lord people...If we're interested in it, let's just either rent it if we don't want to pay $60 when it comes out, or just buy it and enjoy it. If anyone's not interested in it, move on and play something else. No need arguing over this stuff.

In my opinion you can look at this two ways. I not going to buy this because it is going to let 2K Games know it cool to continue to support timed release exclusives. Or you can buy and let them know it is cool to continue to allow games to have timed release exclusives and we will live with it. But not buying the game can have two different reactions by the publisher. They could decide the Playstion community is not buying the game to state we are not cool with timed release exclusives or they can view is as the Playstation community is not their target audience or demographic and we should discontinue making games on the PS3. If you purchase the game the publishers can look that two different ways as well. We made a mistake by not doing a simultaneous release on all platforms at once and we should discontinue timed exclusive, or they can view it as the Playstation community will continue to support timed exclusives because the Playstation community will buy our games no matter what. Some of you may think I have a naive point of view but I feel if you buy the game 2K Games will see the mistake they made and stop timed exclusives. But to each his own!!!

Hi firstly to SarahPalinMILF the xbox is not a shitbox it is an awesome gaming machine (yes the PS3 has more potential which is why I also own a ps3 but until they unleash that potential the xbox is the better console in my eyes)

However I was kinda hoping there'd be more stuff on the PS3 bioshock (already have it for 360 and would have bought it again for extra stuff) The 360 was awesome it was extremely atmospheric and scary for anyone who likes a game with a twisty clever plot and great graphics cool characters (big daddy is pretty awesome) and a creepy atmosphere get this game actually just get the game anyway it is one of the best titles released and if you haven't already got it on 360 definately get it for you PS3.

At the end of the day, who really cares? I have read all the comments, and this is how i see it.

People who own both systems, who dont want year old ports, even if they are identical, dont like this situation because they have either played it, or can get it cheaper. Thats are fair point.

For people who own just a playstation, this is a new oppurtunity, a new game to play which they never had a chance to before. This to me is worthwhile for these gamers. Even if timed exclusives become a more popular thing to do, you are still getting to play the game. If it is exactly the same quality, and not worse, AND there is extra content, what is there to moan about? Yes, the fact that ps3 owners are getting it late can, and is, annoying, some ps3 owners are grateful.

To sum it up, people who have never had the oppurtunity to play this game now can, and that can be only good. Okay, some of you guys can get it cheaper, or whatever. But better this than not at all.
