Pre-Order World Tour, Get Code To Unlock All Songs
Guitar Hero: World Tour will come with 85 songs to sample and master, but not all of them will be playable immediately. You'll have to work to unlock some of them...unless, of course, you'd rather just pre-order the game at GameStop.
If you check the latest issue of Game Informer - delivered to us yesterday - you will find an extremely simple (and some will say, cheesy) solution to the problem of unlocking all 85 tracks: GameStop will give you a special code to nab all the songs instantly if you pre-order Guitar Hero: World Tour. But as the MTV Multiplayer blog points out, GameStop probably doesn't have the exclusive to rights to the code that will allow this to happen; chances are, you could just find it somewhere online and be done with it. Some may not be interested in the first place; they'd rather unlock the songs the old-fashioned way...work for it. But others may not have that patience, and simply want to try out all the tracks as soon as they pop the game into the machine. GameStop is aware of this, of course, and they're taking advantage of that impatience to try to boost pre-order numbers. Well, it'll work.
The only question is, will they make a habit of this? It's nothing new to get extra content if you pre-order a game, but to be able to have access to the entire game's contents immediately? Especially when the game is designed to keep some of it locked until the player scores a certain accomplishment? That's kinda new, and it's guaranteed to spark some debate.
