Burnout Paradise Joins Wipeout HD On PS Store This Week

The PlayStation Store routinely receives weekly updates every Thursday, but few additions this year have been more significant than what's headed our way this Thursday, September 25.

First of all, we've already heard the awesome announcement that Wipeout HD will be on the Store this week, and for the reasonable price of $19.99. If you take a quick glance around the Internet, that game is getting some serious critical recognition; no surprise that it kicks ass. But guess what else comes to the Store this week? Burnout Paradise! One of the best games of the year will appear in downloadable form for $29.99, and it's coming with all the original content plus all new Packs that have arrived this year, including the recently released Bikes Pack. For the full list of what to expect, check the Criterion Games website for all pertinent information. Obviously, if you already own Paradise, it makes no sense to make the purchase, but it's a fantastic chance for those who missed it back in January.

Oh, and you may notice that Criterion will deliver Trophy support soon after the game hits the Store. So this Thursday, you can pick up two of the top PS3 titles available without ever leaving your couch, and it's better than a 2-for-1 deal. You can get both Wipeout HD and Burnout Paradise for only $50!

If you have all the updates it takes quite a bit of space on the hd. DL the whole game on your hd? I don't know how much it'll take, but I'm sure it's more than most want to give.

Quick question; since the main job of a publisher is to produce the purchasable copies of the game for sale and this is a download on the PSN, does that mean that Sony can be credited as the publisher, at least partially?

I think Ben's been taking sleeping pills and they've brought him back to 1996. Typo fixed. =P

This brings us back to that question you asked a while back Ben --- do you want the downloadable version of Burnout or the disk?

I'm partial to the disk so I can admire it as part of my collection. Either way it's a great game at a great price and I'm glad we have the purchase options.

Large game downloads would be higher on my *YAY* list if Sony's servers weren't so SLOW!

i cant download anything from them in any reasonable length of time, unless its a Wallpaper. I know its not on my end: I have almost 8GB of bandwidth. The fastest ive ever gotten from the Playstation Store was 500kb/s.

If you didnt know, thats pitiful. 1000kb = 1mb, and 1000mb = 1gb. When a lot of these games are ~8gb, I would have to leave my playstation on after i finish at 10pm and leave it on until i get home at 5 the next day, which is a HUGE power draw.

Sorry sony, until you can deliver at 21st century speeds, ill stick to a disc.

I think I will keep purchasing the disk for games. That way I can always take it to a friends house if I want to. I like to have what I pay for in my hand.

Amazing game but $30 to dl the thing and take up my hard drive space with nothing to show on my shelf? No.

Agreed. I rather save space for the dl-only games. I think it's just their attempt to make sure their games aren't sold back, thereby increasing direct sales, and possibly increasing marketing easily from a widely viewed podium (the psn). Really, between WOHD and MSPF, I'll have no time for the Paradise City. Perhaps later...
