Ubisoft: Tenchu 4 Emerges From The Shadows In "Early 2009"
Stealth fans became intimately acquainted with the art of ninja assassination back in the PS1 days with Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. Many claim it was worthy competition for the gameplay found in Metal Gear Solid (although not in terms of story, of course), but sadly, the series slid backwards in the PS2 generation. Wherefore art thou, o Tenchu? The Tenchu we once new and loved?
Ubisoft has the answer: it's coming, and it's coming sooner than you may think. According to Joystiq, the publisher has announced that Tenchu 4 will arrive in North America and Europe in "early 2009," and that ought to satisfy all you stealth fans out there. They will provide us with two playable characters, both of whom can "fight, dash, jump and kill like a true ninja." Ubisoft takes it even a step further by exhibiting a good bit of confidence: "Tenchu 4 will come to a North American and European audience where it will be well-received by both fans of the series as well as Wii owners who have been looking for an edgy and exciting game." Yeah, the Wii version will probably boast motion-sensing, but that's hardly any surprise. We just can't wait to hear more about this one, although we get the sneaking suspicion (pun intended) that Ubisoft may have overhauled the franchise to cater more to the twitch-gamer, action-oriented crowd. In other words, we're worried the stealth aspect may be significantly downplayed...
Remember, MGS4 wasn't anywhere near as stealthy as previous installments, and while that wasn't a bad thing, it also had one of the best storylines in history backing it up. We doubt Tenchu 4 will have that level of polish and professional presentation, so we had better hope they deliver on the gameplay. Our expectations are high.

It doesn't state that its scheduled for Japan? I would imagine this sort of game that included Ninja's would do well over there?
