Euro LBP Beta Invites Go Out Today?
The ever-expanding mania surrounding the LittleBigPlanet beta - which starts next week, by the way - has been assaulting the Internet from all angles. Unfortunately, we still have no official information for would-be North American testers.
We have, however, heard a great deal about European beta invites. Yesterday, Eurogamer decided to hand out 5,800 beta codes, which instantly sparked a stampede of eager LBP fans. Before the day was out, every last one of those codes was gone, although that's only a little more than a quarter of the total invites the European region is supposed to receive. Each region (Japan, Europe, and North America) is going to get about 20,000 invites apiece, according to recent news evidence. And today, it seems the rest of those European invites have been sent out, as Euro users all over the 'Net have been advising fellow gamers to check their inboxes...good news might be in there! This isn't too shocking, as Europe was the first testing ground for PlayStation Home, but we assume this beta testing will take place simultaneously around the world, so where the heck are the invites for the U.S.? Will they go out today, too? Media Molecule has said the beta key distribution is "entirely in Sony's hands," so...
We'll have to wait and see, but if everyone wants to be ready for the 29th, they had best send out all the invites to all the regions this week. Remember, Media Molecule and Sony have said they want everyone around the world to be able to play together in LBP; it's a "worldwide community." Hence, we figure the beta should be the same way. Let us know if you see anything, hopeful beta testers!
