Nine Playable Characters In Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2 is among the gigantic blockbuster lineup for October, but those of you who enjoyed the original better be prepared for some changes. We're hoping all those changes are for the better - the game looks amazing - but sometimes, we gamers can be creatures of habit...

Not like we're going to say nine playable characters in a FPS is a bad thing, because it most certainly isn't. That's right, according to the Videogaming247 blog, this sequel will let you choose from one of nine playable characters at the start of your adventure. One of them is pictured here, and if you'd like to see the other eight, head on over to check 'em out. It seems as if all races and ages are accounted for but, as the site points out, there are no female characters to choose from. Eh, women couldn't handle that environment, anyway. ...kidding, ladies, kidding, kidding. Don't start sending us hate mail, really. Anyway, VG247 also reminds you UK gamers that there will be a special Far Cry 2 event in London next Tuesday, and there will be developer interviews, gameplay sampling, and more for all attendees. There's no doubt the competition will be stiff when the game releases, so promotional events like this is a darn good idea.

As for those nine characters, we're now wondering if it makes a significant difference depending on who we select. Will each have different inherent skills? Will they move differently? Will the story play out differently? These are questions we hope to have answered at some point before the Far Cry 2 launch; we'll see what we can find out.
