No Mirror's Edge Demo Today, But Pre-Orders Begin
While rumors can be frustrating for gamers, they're often even more frustrating for the reporters, especially when they can't secure a reply from an official source. But thankfully, we've got the right info on this one, as EA has stepped up to explain the situation.
Initially, after EA sent out a press release concerning the upcoming and highly anticipated Mirror's Edge, some sources began saying a playable demo would hit the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace today. However, you may notice that while there are plenty of awesome new things on the Store today (Wipeout HD, Burnout Paradise, etc.), there's no Mirror's Edge demo. That's because there was "some confusion" in that press release, according to EA. A spokesperson confirmed with Strategy Informer that a demo is indeed on the way, but it won't arrive until a later date. The good news, on the other hand, is that you are now free to pre-order the promising title, as of today. So if you haven't done so already, and considering the possibility of immense popularity for this one, you may want to head down to GameStop to pre-purchase Mirror's Edge. And while you're there, ask 'em what they have for a release date (they need one for pre-orders). Will it be accurate? Who knows?
But it's a good sign that they've started taking pre-orders, and we can't wait for that playable demo. We didn't really want it today, anyway; how much are we expected to download in one day?! Tons of stuff we want.

By the way, I don't see Wipeout HD in the store yet. I'm itching to play that game.
