SKATE 2 "Feels Like Magic In Your Hands"
Last year's SKATE proved to be worthy competition for Activision's popular and long-running Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise, and this year, EA and Black Box seek to claim the crown all for themselves.
Thanks to an exclusive hands-on session with SKATE 2, GamePlayer has provided us with a great preview for all skateboarding fans to feast their eyes upon. Not only are there obvious improvements to the graphics, but they also say that loading times have been "greatly reduced" and perhaps most importantly, the frame-rate has been doubled! They also add- "SKATE 2 is everything we hoped it could be. It was like the developers ran through our personal checklist of issues with the original and ticked them off one-by-one." It's always good to hear that developers have taken their mistakes to heart and resolved to fix them for the sequel, and it appears Black Box has done exactly that. The bottom line seems to be, if you enjoyed the first one, get ready for an immense treat with the second one.
"It all feels like magic in your hands. It's like the original SKATE was an unfinished puzzle and the rest of the pieces have only now been put into place. All of the above sync in perfectly with the move-set already available to give you that many more gameplay options you'll freak out at the possibilities."
If you'd like to read more, check out the full preview. Activision had better step things up with the next Tony Hawk, because it's clear that EA has no intention of withdrawing from this head-to-head competition. And if this preview is accurate, SAKTE 2 should re-set the quality bar.

However, it is no doubt that SKATE 2 is going to be awesome. I absolutely loved the first and seriously cannot wait for the second. Apparently, you can now walk and even move parts around to skate on. And I don't even know how many hours I put into the first game, especially online, so when I get this, I am going to have no life whatsoever... and the analog stick is probably going to snap at some point too lol.
