Sony Releases New LBP Beta Version

Okay, so let's say you've already had some time to toy around with the LittleBigPlanet beta, and you've created more than a few high-quality levels. You're proud of those creations, aren't ya? Well, get ready to lose 'em and start over, because this next time...it's for real.

According to the official PlayStation blog, not only are they handing out more beta codes (try to snag one if you haven't already), they also revealed that a new version of the beta has officially arrived. This new version doesn't require a DNS redirect and all levels that are generated will be available to consumers at the time of the game's retail launch. This means that if you've already redeemed your beta voucher key, you'll have to delete the old data - yep, that includes save game data - and download the new version. All you have to do is head on over to Download History and re-download the new code, and you'll be good to go. Hopefully, you didn't spend too many hours developing your genius levels; the majority of you probably haven't had enough time, so this won't bother you. And think of it this way- now that you know, you can really dive into the customization process and create levels worthy of the rest of the PlayStation community!

We'll keep you updated with anything LBP-related, especially if it's something as important as this new version release. Oh, and if you haven't yet scored a beta code, there are plenty of sites all over the Internet that still have a few left. You might want to check Eurogamer, GameSpot, and the aforementioned PlayStation blog. Good luck!

Got my invite today. This game is really neat. I was quite skeptical but it's very unique and captivating. I'll make some trash levels but I've got an idea or two I'd like to try.

Hahaha!
OMFG I can't believe I even got invited....

And it was all because I was one of the firsts to register in the official LBP site when it launched back in August or so.

This game is beyond words, it's something you have to FEEL.

You don't loose your levels if you have published them to the public server for everyone to play, then they will be saved there, plus you have to be logged in to the PSN and the LittleBigPlanet community network for the beta to work at all. Since the levels that are created in the beta now is going to be there when the game launch in a few weeks.
There are already many great levels on there.

This is the same version of LBP Beta that has been used for at least the past week. I am not sure why PS Blog posted that information because it seems to have just caused confusion. If you look further down in the comments on that PS Blog post Jeff mentions it is the same version. The notes about not needing a redirect are just part of the release notes of the last version released.

Yes, it is probably a note to those who have played the closed beta, and now is going to play this public beta. Closed beta, public beta and open betas are 3 different things.

The best thing is that the levels you create in the beta will be available to play when the real game comes out

Wow now if that isn't sweet I don't know what is...

By the way I know some really worry 'bout the levels being too short. But I gotta tell you, they're FAR from short, on average I spend 10 or so minutes per level, that's insane if you ask me haha. I was worried 'bout this particular issue, so good to see that it's not an issue at all.

Hope more of you guys get invited

Yea the level varies in length and quality, it is nice to see so many different idea unfold like they do. When I am in create mode my mind just go nuts with creativity, very well done game.

I'm in it and I love it. I'm making a level right now but it's not turning out so well. I'm trying to get really insane air on this stunt that I can't seem to get right.
