First Dead Space Review: Does EA Redefine Survival/Horror?
Yeah, we know what you're thinking: "holy crap, it's not possible...it's EA!" Well, the largest video game publisher in the world has to eventually get lucky, right?
It seems the first review for the highly anticipated survival/horror title, Dead Space, has arrived courtesy of Xbox 360 World Magazine, which just hit store shelves yesterday. As reported on by several sites around the Internet, including CVG and Joystiq, that review is very, very positive: 91%. In fact, they go so far as to say that EA could teach Capcom (makers of the uber-popular Resident Evil series) "a think or three about survival/horror." Yeah, they really did say that. In terms of the environment, the review says that exploring your spaceship - the Ishimura - is "a nail-biting experience" and they actually go so far as to compare it to Rapture in Bioshock. Apparently, it's "just as meticulously designed and easily believable." And last but not least, the crowning achievement of the game centers on its very cool Zero G environments. "When the gravity is removed the fun really starts."
Well, this is certainly good news. Of course, we will have the final say on the matter, just 'cuz we've got a few of the most professional and knowledgeable critics in the industry. Oh...but it's true. Stay tuned!

With regards to EA... they are the publisher, they can control quality to a specific level, any more and time to market is lost. They are so large they probably don't care too much if there is a bad apple in their basket every so often. In this case make sure you don't purchase titles from EA immediately upon release, make sure you scan and read multiple reviews of an EA title and see if it fits your criteria of game genre, features and QUALITY. If it stinks leave it... as people have learned with Orange Box. I don't suspect ALL games EA publish will be bad, Dead Space is a good example, and Bad Company another. Take your pick!

EA gets a bad rap because people like to attack the "big guy" on the block and see him fail. Well, EA is no longer the de facto biggest game publisher out there. That would be ActivisionBlizzard. Go get 'em guys! ;)
