Uncharted Movie Confirmed, Might Actually Be A Winner
First of all, we really hope that "Max Payne" will be a solid movie based on an excellent video game series. Seriously, all we're looking for is "solid;" we don't need or expect "fantastic." But Hollywood is well aware of the power of the gaming industry, especially now that it typically beats the snot out of the film industry in terms of overall profit.
This being the case, it seems some people don't want to make movies based on games that suck. They don't want to be another Uwe Boll. Some of these people are the likes of producer Ari Arad and the production studio he runs with his father, Avi. Kotaku did a big feature on these guys, and during the interview, we learn that a movie based on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is definitely in the works. Arad plans to "mix things up a little bit;" while the game quickly drops you on the island, the movie will start a little sooner in the story, and they're also toning down the gunplay a bit. In other words, you can expect more talking, more sexual tension (that reporter chick is cute, so that's cool), and in general, more depth. Nothing wrong with that. Oh, and they also say that we shouldn't confuse Nathan Drake or this movie with the "Indiana Jones" saga-
"Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game."
So anyway, our hopes are once again high. Usually, whenever this happens, the movie ends up sucking hardcore and we're all disappointed. But "Max Payne" looks promising, and it seems the Avrads aren't just phoning this one in; the "Uncharted" film could be downright great. We'll keep an eye on things, just 'cuz we know you'll want to learn more.

While theyre not necessarily (all) flops, theyre not blockbusters either.
I think Ben's point was that theyre not super-popular games, the ones everyone has. Like Halo, Super Smash Bros, And Call Of Duty, to name the huge ones.

'Sexual Tension' Typical in any movie, as if it is a neccessity to have a leading male and a leading female and they always have to make out.
If I could direct a movie and I had the financial backing. I would make a survival horror movie with movie stars in the cast. I wouldn't have a leading role, I would have all the stars killed one by one so the audience wouldn't know who would survive, and then have the most likely to be killed guy actually survive. He wouldn't get the gorgeous women in the end because she is either married or is in a relationship.
Just bored of the same old 2 people fall in love at the end crap that you see in nearlly every movie.
