Old-School Hero Matt Hazard "Returns"
Here's an interesting idea for a game: invent a completely fictional old-school video game character, then have him "return" in a brand new - yet equally cheesy - modern game that heralds his "legendary past." It's certainly unique, and D3Publisher believes everyone will scramble to get a shot at playing the aging action hero in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.
According to GameSpot, D3 and Maverick Public Relations talked about this somewhat bizarre approach to a next-gen title. Maverick's Brandon Smith said- "As a gamer, I'm continually frustrated when interesting new games get swept under the rug by the clutter generated from hundreds of mediocre sequels." So what to do? Well, how's about they see this fake plan all the way through by launching the a site so comical, it almost seems perfectly real: WeaponsOfMattDestruction.com. Tell us that isn't one of the coolest sites ever! Matt Hazard, if you're not familiar (and how could you be?!), is an over-the-hill action hero from yesteryear who will utilize several kick-ass weapons to handle a bevy of old-school enemies. Yep, you'll be fighting off zombies, space marines, and hey, maybe even a few monsters that look a whole lot like Duke Nukem enemies. You just never know. This is just too clever to ignore, and we're going to have to keep an eye on our new best buddy, Matt Hazard.
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard should release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 some time early next year.

Also, I think it has somehow affected the over saturated FPS market. I love 'em but too much of a good thing is ALWAYS a bad thing. And a crutch for lack of creativity. We'll always have the likes of a yearly Madden xx but what IP will suffer in the wake? And I think that is the main point.
