Volition: No Third Entry Until We Collect Saints Row 2 Feedback
As most of you are aware, THQ is preparing to produce one of October's biggest next-gen titles; Saints Row 2, which is guaranteed to appeal to anyone who enjoys the open-world sandbox style of play. But here's the thing- unless the feedback is positive, you may not see a third installment.
Strategy Informer recently spoke to the franchise's lead designer, Scott Phillips, and lead producer, Greg Donovan (both from developer Volition). Apparently, much of the discussion focused on Saints Row 2, but then SI asked if the team would tackle Saints Row 3. Apparently, Volition will wait to see how this sequel is received before starting work on the third entry:
"We've got tons and tons of ideas coming out of SR 2. I mean, coming out of any game you know things you want to make better and in addition to that, we'll wait until players put their comments out and collect that stuff and start working on it then, I guess. Hopefully."
Sometimes, developers and publishers pump out the sequels even when previous titles in a series didn't do so well, so this is good to hear. Also, if the feedback is mixed, we're certain Volition will listen to the negative comments and try to fix 'em for another go-'round. So the bottom line is that if the game flops, Saints Row 3 could be in question, but if it lives up to expectations, the series will most certainly continue. Hope ya like it!
