Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Headed for PSN?

Credit goes to Neo-GAF poster by the name of Shard for coming across this awesome little tidbit. Apparently, while cruising around the ESRB's website, the poster came across the listing and rating for Marvel vs. Capcom 2. But instead of naming the PlayStation 2 and Xbox as the consoles it was released on, it also featured the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The listing for the game came complete with all of the game's contents, such as blood and suggestive themes. Furthermore, the game is now gone from the ESRB's website, but not before someone managed to take a screenshot of it, suggesting that perhaps the ESRB let something slip inadvertently. This certainly isn't the first time we've come to learn of a game thanks to a slip-up by the ESRB, and likely not the last.

All I know is that, if this isn't some sort of mistake, I'm extremely excited to see one of my most favorite fighting games arrive on the PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network as a downloadable game. Of course, there is no word on whether or not it's going to boast any visual upgrades, but seeing as how long it's taking Capcom to release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD, don't bet on anything more than just resolution scaling. So with Super Turbo HD and Street Fighter IV on the way, MvsC2 would surely make a great addition to form a wonderful trio on my PlayStation 3.

Stay posted for the official word (hopefully).

SarahPalinMILF can you speak up because I can't hear you. But seriously I hope they can at the very least change the character selection music. It was so outrageous we had a rule of only allowing a maximum of 10 seconds to choose your characters. I really don't know about the PS2 version because I have the Dreamcast version. Does the lyrics "I'm going to take you for a ride" bring back any bad memories. I apologize for anybody that reads my comment and knows what I'm talking about if the character selection music gets stuck in your head because as soon as I seen the headline of the article it had already got stuck in my mine. Thanks PSX Extreme for bringing back bad memories. ;-)

This just kind of gives credence to the rumor that Capcom could be making a new Marvel vs Capcom really soon. Depending on the price this could be an awesome release.

A bunch of Ebayers are gonna be pissed though. that game goes for over 100 dollars for the ps2 version.

Pathetic? Do you know how hard it is to find MvC2?,not to mention finding one that is cheap and not scratched up.This is not pathetic this will be one of the best decisions they ever made.

Well wouldn't you at least be happy to have the option of playing it again... it seems kinda stupid criticizing them for releasing it on PSN when really its just another great game to choose from.

i think its just being mistaken as it is playable from the original Xbox and Ps2 versions on the PS3 and 360. besides, i dont think they have the rights to re-distribute. thats the whole reason the game has limited copies. they lost rights.

Not on all consoles, it isn't. Microsofts backwards compatability sucks. They couldn't even get Halo 1/2 to play properly on the 360. And the new PS3s aren't backwards compatable anymore.

But thank god. This is probably my all time favorite fighter. Can't wait to get my friends over for a tourney soon.

Capcom lost licensing rights to the characters during the production of game discs. hence why there are limited copies. Marvel would have to consent to this since they had a falling out with licensing with Capcom.

No clue about a new MvC, but agree its a leadup to Street Fighter IV. On that note, even SFIV is gonna hafta shine really well, I'm already getting bored with Soul Calibur IV, even though its awesome, fighters never hold my attention all that long. Maybe I'm getting ADD. *sigh* online battles are impossible against the cheap, tricksy fighters.

Maybe it's MvC with the SFIV engine? That'd be worth getting. Otherwise I'll skip it. That game was a mess.

Don't flame me, but where's the appeal in the new Street Fighter, other then the updated graphics? What does it offer that the other ones don't have? I'm not saying it won't be great, I'm just wondering.

That's like asking 'Whats the appeal in FFXIII? It's going to be pretty much the same as all the other FFs.'
It's a new iteration, the graphics look better, and its something new to play. Plus those of us who suck at 3d fighters can start kicking ass on our friends all over again.

I bought mine at gamecrazy about the time it was released for $40, and I hope they release the other vs. capcom titles on the PSN those are way harder to find (X-men vs street fighter ,marvel super heroes vs capcom, and marvel vs. capcom)
