PS3 Firmware 2.50 Available Now, Includes Flash 9 Support
It's one of the most significant updates to the PlayStation 3, and certainly the most important since the firmware that added Trophies to the system's repertoire.
We've already filled you in on the details of firmware update 2.50 for the PS3, and now it's time to download it. If you'd just mosey on over to your console and log on to the Network, you will see that the update is available and rarin' to go. It's a hefty update, but it shouldn't take longer than a few minutes to download and install, and besides, most of you will be quite satisfied with the result. As you can see in our earlier report, 2.50 will let players take in-game screenshots, plus it offers new features like power save and video scene thumbs. Furthermore, according to Eurogamer, you will now have Flash 9 support via the console's web browser, which is yet another nice enhancement. It seems as if with every new update, the PS3 becomes that much attractive to the consumer, especially those who are looking for a true-blue multimedia entertainment console. Sony is well aware of the importance of electronic diversity these days, and firmware 2.50 is a definite bonus.
So if you haven't already done it, go download the update and revel in the fact that your PS3 just got even more capable. Oh, and don't forget about firmware update 5.0 for the PSP; it makes the PlayStation Store directly accessible on the handheld!

And when you go to the PS store icon, it comes up with its own info as if it were a demo, or Life with PS. and when u click on ps store, it has a nifty splash screen.
Oh yeah, and flash player 9 works too.

The account management side is neat but the video section is screwed up tsk, cha! Anywayay is nuttin really to bother about too much.
I just don't understand why the Video section should take a step backwards :(

The only thing I like about this update is the power save feature.
Whats video scene thumbs? Is that when you watch a vid off the hdd, you can create your own scenes and add a thumbnail to it?

As for the update, I think it's great. Everything seems so clean now. However, it is strange that when you hit the PS button when watching a vid, the vid pauses in the background. But I'm assuming this was done because of what they've added.
