Socom Confrontation Released!
With LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, and SOCOM, there's no question that the holiday season belongs to Sony. The first of Sony's big three releases has now launched, and beginning today, PS3 owners can walk into a store and pick up their copy of SOCOM Confrontation with an official PS3 bluetooth headset. Actually, you don't even have to walk, you can just click your way to the PlayStation Store and buy the downloadable version of the game. You can either buy the stand-alone game on Blu-ray or PlayStation Store for $39.99, or pick up the bluetooth bundle for $59.99."Working with the PS3 System Software, R&D and game development teams at Sony Computer Entertainment, we made a great effort to develop the most compelling headset for the PS3 community and are excited to bring it to market with the launch of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation," said Seth Luisi, director of development, SCEA. "With the new headset, we were able to implement new game features such as proximity chat which utilizes high quality voice chat play back within the game in full surround sound with reverb and sound occlusion to match all of the sound effects and VO in the game; providing players with the most immersive voice chat experience seen in any game title."
The PlayStation 3's official bluetooth headset features some high-end traits, such as noise cancellation and a High-Quality mode for the most clean and clear communications without the "What" and "Huh" every other second. Smart shoppers should opt to spend the extra $20 for the bundle, as the Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset will retail for $50 when it arrives to stores in a few weeks.
Remember, this SOCOM game boasts a plethora of features, including 32 player matches, revised classic maps (some will be part of downloadable content), seven game modes, and the cleanest voice chat around. Go out and snag yourself a copy, or download it now on PSN.

If you are tired of the same old death match and capture the flag, SOCOM has a very refreshing feel.
My favorite part of the new SOCOM is the proximity chat. Nothing like sneaking up on someone and whisper to them "You should watch your back" right before you knife them. Having the proxy chat really adds another element to the gameplay.
The primary gameplay style can be compared to CoD4's Search and Destroy game modes.

I know. I know. It's brand new... Well, no it's not. The SOCOM franchise has been around for several years and this is the 4th version with a major online component. Not only that, but this is the first version with ONLY ONLINE play.
Make your excuses for Slant Six and Sony. Say that it isn't Zipper anymore, which is the excuse I'm sure most will provide. Fact is, people paid good money to play this game today, and they can not. That should be embarrassing to all the companies involved with this game's launch.
I've played since the original release day of SOCOM I, and this has been the issue with ALL of them. I guess expecting Sony and its developer (who ever it is) would have learned a lesson will always be a mistake.
From now on when any type of server goes down, I'm going to say it's "SOCOM'd".
It's a shame such a great game has to be delivered a black eye like this yet again on its opening day!
