Network And Store Back Online, Resistance 2 Beta Available!

We're not aware of the specific reasons, but Sony was forced to take some of the PlayStation Network's functions offline for a little while. Many speculated it had something to do with the Resistance 2 beta - there were even a few rumors regarding PlayStation Home - but in the end, we really don't know why this unscheduled maintenance took place.

But the PlayStation Store is back, and there's more good news: as most of you have already figured out, the Resistance 2 beta test is now ready to go! If you have a code key, head on over to the Account Management tab on the XMB and go to "Redeem Code" so you can get into the action. However, fair warning: you'll need between one hour, thirty minutes and one hour, forty-five minutes (depending on your connection) to download the massive 2.2GB file necessary for the beta. Also, if you experience any major glitches or issues early on, feel free to let us know all about it; after all, this is a test; it's our responsibility to let Sony and Insomniac know where the problems lie. We have successfully downloaded the beta and we'll be jumping in to check things out within the next hour...we'll probably see some of you there. ;) Just remember, you better have something to do for a while during the download time. Watch the Red Sox lose, or something.

As for the maintenance, we'll try to figure out why it was necessary, but it's not really an issue, anymore. Your Store and online options should all work just fine now, so why worry about it?

There's two bugs so far. One freezes R2 when you try to log on or when you log out, also joinning a game or once you leave a game (waited 10 minutes to see if it was a connection error). Second one, is I get disconnected like mad from the server. Went on Wipeout HD and connection was smooth, no disconnections, no nothing.

you didn't need a code for the beta when you purchased qore ep. 3, you just download the game. i gave my beta code to one of my friends. also this game is freaking all-mighty ☆. so far the game is running smooth all though when I first booted the game it froze on me.

I got my qore beta code and it is absolutely fantastic. I just got off, thats why this post is so late, or early, however you see it. But The beta is working very well, better than socom is right now, My connection was lost a couple times, but that was over 4 hours. All the voice comm was working great, it's not lagging and I have yet to experience any major glitches. Bravo insomniac. I hope to see some of you guys out there. If you want to play my psn id is Buzzkiller. I have to get some sleep.

@ BEN, I actually watched the end of the sox game while I was waiting and I couldn't believe what I saw. I guess we'll have to wait a couple more days to see them loose.

Am I the only idiot that tried to enter the emailed code from Gamestop directly? Lol, I was so excited that I did not read the instructions that told you to enter the emailed code on a website to get the actual beta code. Also, I did receive the one from Qore, but it was emailed to me pretty late last night. Anyways, I played it and it ran smooth and I never lost my connection. It was a lot of fun to do the Coop as well with some friends.

No email, guess I didn't get in. It's ok, I was thrilled to get into LBP before (my first beta ever) and now I'm pretty busy with Dead Space. (If u have this one, download the free Obsidian Suit on PSN, its awesome) I guess it's just as well, I have no patience for the Chimera so I wind up charging in and dying anyhow.

Anyways, I'm also still waiting for the code from Qore. They better give it to me today so I can download it over night and play like crazy over the weekend.
