SCEA, SCEE Reveal New LittleBigPlanet Release Dates

Late yesterday, the news broke that LittleBigPlanet would have to be delayed due to certain Qur'an "expressions" found in one of the game's background songs. Of course, the big question is: how long will it be delayed for?

Well, now we know: according to the official PlayStation blog, the game will now release in North America on October 27. They also issued the following official statement in reply to the potential political fallout:

"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Quran. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused."

So that's less than a week delay, but European gamers won't be as happy. According to MCVUK, SCEE has announced that LittleBigPlanet will now release on November 14 in Europe, which is more than a two-week delay; the original release date was October 24. So the crisis has been narrowly averted and there's no chance of offending anyone else. The only thing is, we have a copy of the game already - as Arnold told ya in the Comments in that other article - and we have to say...nope, we're not going to say anything, 'cuz we don't want to suffer the repercussions.

well that sucks I was hoping i would have been able to pick them up this Tuesday with the extra stuff gamestop was handing out for costumes and stuff. Oh well I guess this is a good thing cause they needed to resolve this issue.

I feel for you man, but don't worry Im sure Gamestop will do something, probably not a cool something, but they'll do something for the upset customers. I know I want to. Those codes will still work, so we have to wait one extra week, but it'll be so fun when we finally get our hands on it, we probably will forget it was ever delayed.

In all actuality, I'm glad the game is delayed becuase now I have a greater chance of passing my mid-terms lol. Now I'm only going to have to put up with Fallout 3 and Bioshock while I study.

I think that everyone that has a preorder should get another custom costume because of the delay. I was think a Jesus or Moses would be a nice add. They should have the works. Beard, robes, staff and maybe even a stone tablet with the 10 comandments on it for the Moses one. Can't wait till the 27th.

WAIT WAIT WAIT PS3FANBOY said the UK release date is now the 31st they sai that information was straight from MM. If it is November 14th now im going to be pissed off especially because US gamers release date isnt much difference, but a 3 week delay is ridiculous.

I can feel for all of you, but just get over with it guys, cuz the truth is: what can we do if the game is not coming? I believe once the game comes and everyone picks up one copy and few weeks after, we might even forget about this delay and will be in total ecstacy with the game already.

Actually OK with me, Now I can rent FarCry first and buy LBP when it releases ;)

Bumped my gamefly to 4 games out for this fall,, just too many great titles!

Btw, the FarCry space in Home is pretty darn cool.

The blog does NOT say that it will be available on the 27th. It says they will BEGIN TO SHIP to retail the WEEK of the 27th. That to me says in store availability closer to Halloween.

As sad as I am about the game being delayed, at least I can get bioshock next week, get paid on thursday and get LBP the following week! haha. 2 amazing games at once could be overwhelming, so maybe its a good thing, for me at least. :D

Evry now n then i hear bout LBP n am still not feelin that excitedness i felt when San andreas ,FFXII n GTAIV were bout to be released...i don't know but dat feelin aint there for LBP,n infact for the rest of the year,be it Resist2,COD5,Pacific Rift,i don't feel nuthin.

I just can't wait for Resident Evil 5,WKC,FFXIII n FFvXIII n ofcourse GTAV.

I know this maybe a little off topic also, but does anyone know anything about the 10/22 date on the end of the new far cry 2 trailer? a friend of mine saw it and pointed it out to me. I didnt know if it was pushed back a day or if it is just a typo. Anyone have any ideas?

I think its stupid that they just caught it. the song was out for 2 flippin years. They are covering their "hinies" tho. if they released it with the song, all hell would break loose (pun intended). They are keeping it out of the game because church going families would probably not allow it in there homes for stupid reasons, and schools would not allow it on the campus whether it be high school, middle school, elementery, or a private school. At my school, we had lock-ins and people would bring there ps2s and psps and 360s and we would all set around and play gh and try to sneak in some san andreas. Now the game is appropriate for all ages and all sexs and all religions.

Hmm, looks like the LBP "fallout" is coming to an end, sadly every site has a different take on just when the game is coming. In the end it probably wound up raising the hype.

I've seen an awfull lot of articles on this game now. The first time that I heard about LBP I didn't really care about it (I thought it would be another stupid arcade game on the PS store :-). But after all this drama LBP will definitely be a hit!

I am still getting my copy tomorrow. No hold back at my local gamestop so far. I don't know if they fell through ther cracks, but there has been no corporate e-mail to not sell it as planned tomorrow.
