White Knight Chronicles Battle Details
The closer we get to its Japanese release, the more the intricate details begin to surface. The latest concerning White Knight Chronicles centers on the battles, which of course will be a primary focus of the hotly anticipated RPG.
According to the recent edition of Famitsu and reported on by Kotaku, players can use both one-handed and two-handed weapons in battle. As one might expect, the former allows you to land quick strikes in succession while the latter is more powerful, but slower, making it more difficult to chain blows together. There are also two different types of magic - "Holy" and "Spirit" - and there are four attributes for Spirit Magic: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. However, here's where things get a little unique- evidently, using magic doesn't drain a standard MP meter; it actually drains health. This means we'll have to implement a bit of strategy before whipping out all our most powerful spells. Lastly, it seems that players will receive items and objects they can use after winning battles, and it goes beyond the traditional potions or antidotes or whatever. Sometimes, you won't immediately know the use of a particular item won, but we assume there will be ways of finding out...
White Knight Chronicles is scheduled to launch in Japan on December 25, although Level 5 hasn't provided anyone with a North American or European release date just yet. We had hoped to receive it at the Tokyo Game Show, but it didn't happen, so we're still waiting. Let's hope it's not long after the holidays!
