LittleBigPlanet Hits GameStop Today?

After Sony decided to recall LittleBigPlanet due to Koran expressions found in one of the game's background songs - a decision that met with plenty of controversy - SCEA and SCEE released revised estimated release dates.

SCEA said North American gamers can expect the excellent and innovative platformer to hit some time during "the week of October 27," while according to SCEE, Europe gets it a week later; for "the week of November 3." Now, technically, the week of October 27 begins tomorrow, but many people around the U.S. are reporting something mighty encouraging: it seems those who have pre-ordered the game have already received that automated phone call from GameStop to tell them LittleBigPlanet will be in the store today! These people received their call yesterday and last night - supposedly - so if you do have it pre-ordered at GameStop, we suggest giving 'em a call tomorrow. With no exact release date, it's tough to say when copies will start arriving at stores, but we can pretty much guarantee that Sony wants them out as fast as humanly possible. So if they could swing it, we think it's quite feasible to see LBP on store shelves at some point today.

You've probably already noticed, but we love LittleBigPlanet and we strongly recommend a purchase. So even if you don't have it pre-ordered and you stumble upon it within the next few days, don't pass on the opportunity. It's easily one of the best titles of the generation.

I got my call tonight. The guy said that only the people who reserved before the recall will get a copy. He said there is 1 person at my local store who reserved after and if I don't intend to pick up before Tuesday to let them know so they could hook him up instead. Yeah right, I'm picking that puppy up post haste. :D

I got my copy from Newegg on the 22nd. It's addictively fun (accidentally stayed up almost all night that night!), but it still says the LBP servers are offline at start. Guess those won't be online until next week.

Well as I work for Gamestop, sorry for delay, you early reserver guys and gals out there can pick up your copies tomorrow afternoon. As for everyone else, you have to wait till the 27 when the second shipment comes in. Tomorrow is only for those who reserved the game, and that is it. I know it sucks, but Sony recalled the item, so this is what happens. The e-mail we got today said that the copies we will be getting tomorrow will only be enough to cover pre-orders. I was instructed to be strict and look at the dates of when people come in, so i can determine if they pre-ordered it before or after the recall. I know it sucks, but hey, those who reserved it first get first dibs, only seems fair.

I had to work overtime installing a server at a PD and was having a really bad time until I got the magical call...

Can't wait to go get it, anyone know at what time GameStop gets there deliveries?

@Ben & Arnold or Anyone who's played LBP - I posted this pretty late in the LBP review post but didn't get a response.

How big are the downloadable levels in LBP? Around 30MB I hope.

Well I was hoping beyond hope to get the game in the mail today... but no such luck. The tracker says it left from about 50 miles away from my house yesterday around 8PM so I thought there was a fair chance of getting it. Ah well... I'll definitely get it Monday though.

I was the first to buy it at my local GameSpot. Where the hell is the advertising for this game? Sony really confuses me...

If this were a 360 game, EVERYONE would know about it.

The guy who sold it to me didn't even know what system it was on. If you work at GameStop you should at least have SOME knowledge...

Believe me I have some knowledge, which is why in the past day I have sold to 2 happy customers a PS3 each. I also said, you should pick up LBP, and showed the the game and informed them about it. Believe me Im trying real hard to counter the Gamestop Xbox fanboy-ism at my store.

Welcome to LBP people...like to inform everyone that if they did managed to get the recalled copy last week, Sony put out a patch to mute the lyrics of the fabled song in question. Now they are all the same and I don't have to worry about getting booted...thank god.
