RE5 Producer: RE5 Title Screen Couldn't Be Done On Wii
We don't mean to offend the Wii owners out there, but you have to admit...this is pretty comical.
Clearly, Nintendo had no intention of competing with the PS3 and 360 in the realm of technical capability; the industry legend instead decided to institute a gaming innovation that managed to capture the interest of millions worldwide. It may be the very first game console to appeal to non-gamers everywhere, and that's no easy accomplishment. But these days, with all the unbelievable technical achievements on the other two consoles, the Wii continues to look more and more dated. Capcom Resident Evil 5 producer Juntake Uchi may have inadvertently added fuel to that fire, too. According to NintendoEverything, Uchi said that while the Wii "is a wonderful piece of hardware," he says it (along with the PS2) wouldn't even be able to handle "the title screen of RE5." Heh...we're not sure what's on that title screen, but it's an amusing quote nonetheless. This is one of those times where everyone has a good, harmless chuckle, although Wii fans probably aren't too happy with the comment.
We maintain our belief that the Wii has an extreme lack of fantastic software in comparison to the PS3/360, but as many have said, it's not so much about the software with the Wii. Guess it's just something people will play forever, even if they're still playing Wii Sports. And to steal the famous line from "Seinfeld;" "not that there's anything wrong with it." :)

Lets say that something like the Wiimote and Wii Sports was packed together for $50 and came out on the PS2 in 2003-2005. It would not have been anywhere near as successful as the Wii is. I guarantee it. Which is a shame because the PS2 had a bunch of amazing games and an amazing normal controller.
That bugs me because the Wii is $250 and most people just buy it and play once every 4 months. It's a sales success but that doesn't stop it from being the equivalent of a fisher price piece of crap.
The main reason it bugs me is that Nintendo is capable of greatness. SNES proved that. But they make the flippin' Wii instead. I wish Apple or some random company would have came out with the Wii a long time ago. Then Nintendo might have made a good console this gen.
Actually, you know what? Everything I just typed is pointless because I just remembered that Nintendo is only capable of mario spin-offs and other crap games now. Sooo, a good console wouldn't make a difference. Gamers lose no matter what I guess.

Everyone I know says they stop even using them after a month or so.
It's too bad, because in some ways I really do miss the feel of games like Donkey Kong and the good Mario games.
You know, it probably couldn't handle the title screen of RE5, this game looks like it has intense graphics.

I remember the day my friend came through the door with a glow on his face and a Wii in his hands. He was once the Halo Master...unbeatable. Poor guy got caught in the phase...
Well that sucker (The Wii) is employed as home decor and thats it! He has moved on to the Ps3 Promised Land. Man those days of watching such a feared Halo 2 King flailing his arms were priceless though!!!

Wii's CPU is alot slower than PS3's and X360's.
Wii's CPU is basically like faster-clocked GameCube's CPU.
@djjake
IMO, Wii is not kids console. its console for everyone.
and like when im stress because something (homework, exam, money problem...). i prefer play simple games on PC using camspace, like those on Wii using wiimote.
btw yes PS2 use DVD just like Xbox 360, but PS2 can't handle the menu because its alot slower hardware.
game storage media doesn mean that the console can do the same thing.
just like when many people say PS3 got bluray, so ps3 will have awesome graphics ;)
ps3 have good graphic because of the CPU and GPU processing the data stored on BluRay.

The only reason we get (negative)Wii news on a PS site is to ignite a lil hard-on and mindlessly bash the console. I have yet to see a game greater than Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the PS3 or even the 360.
BTW if Nintendos so bad, when's the last time Sony made a great game?.... oh thats right they DONT make games at all, they hire others to do it! LOL!
Seriously just enjoy Resistance and whatevers left of the PS3.
Currently Playing
Wii:
Metroid Prime 3
Secret of Mana
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
World of Goo
Super Mario RPG
Sonic The Hedgehog
XBOX 360:
Gears of War
Mass Effect
Fable II

Nintendo have many fun games and exclusive. you only can play that game if you have Wii (or just play it on your friend's house).
@ace
game is not only about hardware power and awesome graphic.
if, game is only about hardware power and awesome graphic, Console will die.
all Great games will be on PC only.
pc always have better, faster hardware.
pc virtually have no limitation.
pc games can benefit the fastest hardware available. but the game's engine also need to be highly scalable. to allow "Slow pc" to play the game.

And yes R2 is the only good game I can think of(It's no Halo or Gears of War)
I agree about Gears of War it seems like after Halo 2 most developers focus more on multiplayer and have forgotten the magic that comes with single player.
I must've lit a fire under Gaystation 3 fans and created a "red ring" LOL.
Seriously if you think my comment is idiotic try the "Wii is kids console" one above.
I LOVE SONY FANBOYS

just be calm.
we already now PSXE is playstation news website with many PS fanboys.
but we still here, visiting PSXE.
so just be calm.
you also can go to other news website if you feel there's too many fanboy in PSXE.
i personally go here to PSXE mainly because the fast pageload and small page size. my internet is really slow, it take MINUTES to open IGN.
and it only take seconds to open psxextreme.
@ben
nope, im not PC fanboy.
i myself play more on my X360.
my PC also have outdated hardwares.
i use my pc mainly to watch animes.
about DMC4
im sure im not a pc fanboy here.
can you deny that the DMC4 pc is alot better than Xbox 360 and PS3 version?
no you can't.
because deep down, you already know, see, listen, watch and feel that DMC4 on pc look a lot better than the console version.
it runs in 1440x900 with great textures and about 30-70fps on my GF 8600GT 256MB :)
and it still can get even better if you have 512MB Video RAM.

1: Nintendo copied Sony's motion-sensitive technology that is on all PS3's (eccept for the sensor-bar stuff where you aim the Wii controller at the TV)
2: Nintendo advertises that technology on every comercial they release but Sony never even mentions it except on the crappy PS3 that you can test out @ wal-mart and other retailers.

Where were you during E3 2005?? Nintendo announced the controller and got rave reviews. Then in an attempt to compete Sony got rid of their boomerang controller and added tilt sensitivity. Why do you think the motion in PS3 feels crappy and rushed??
DONT BE AN IGNORANT FANBOY. Nintendo is the most innovative and most copied company in gaming history.

Microsoft is also planning a similar Wii-like controller, if you don't like the wiimote, oh well get used to it. It's the future. Since when have you seen Nintendo come up with a new controller and not have the entire industry follow??

Of course they will have to add functionality, but not "start all over". The Wii MotionPlus technology wasn't even possible until now, it couldn't have been done in 2006!! This is just the beginning like the first cell phone or the first NES controller, it will evolve eventually.
As for Nintendo not being the pioneer in gaming:
Mario Bros.: Introduction of side scrolling adventure, every game that followed until 1996 looked like Super Mario Bros.
Mario 64: Real 3D environment and 360 degree movement. Introduction of ANALOG JOYSTICK 360 degree movement.
Star Fox 4: Introduction to rumble function. Every console after took a piece of Star Fox.
Gameboy Camera: Introduction to camera function for gaming.
Nintendo originally planned to have gamers faces uploaded onto game characters in 1999. They never finished developing the idea(I think I know why). But I always thought it would be cool if Sony or MS took the idea with their HD consoles. It would be a fun way to play Guitar Hero or Gears of War!!
P.S.
Microsoft: Introduction to kick ass online gaming!!!
I give no props to Sony whatsoever because they choose to play follow the leader instead of creating their own path.

As for Nintendo introducing side scrolling adventure, they didn't introduce it, they just made it better with the techonology they had. I'm sure Atari owners will remember playing side scrolling with Pitfall, or Moon Patrol. Defender (1980) was even described as a "scrolling shooter"
As for 3d environments, the first "3D" game was Battlezone (again 1980 16 years ahead of N64) With technology improvements Nintendo went with the trend borrowed the idea of 3d gaming and improved it for the 64.
Again, The analog joystick was not created by Nintendo. The joystick was around for years and used in flight simulators. In 1995 (a year before N64) Sony actually released a dual analog controller called the FlightStick for their game Descent. Nintendo just took that idea, with new technology and created the single thumbstick. Sony replied with the Dual analog thumbstick. Sony, Sega and Nintendo were doing thumbsticks all at the same time. Nintendo released their single thumbstick in June of 96, Sega released a single thumbstick in Jule of 96. By November, Sony had the Dual analog. Less then a year after, they had released the Dual shock controller with a built in rumble feature...a step above Nintendo which had a rumble pack as an accessory that required extra batteries to make it work. Nintendo took that idea of feedback and involving the gamer more and created the Wii Mote...which brings us one step closer to Virtual Reality...which has been talked about for years before gaming was popular.
So who leads and who rips off? Who can tell, it's kind of like asking which came first the chicken or the egg? In the end with healthy competition and companies improving on others ideas, the people who win are us the gamer. and it's up to us to choose which product to support. And unless they screw up royally, I'll probably stick to Sony. And you and I will probably have this conversation again when the Next Generation of systems comes out.
I'll talk to you soon!
