Sony "Delighted With The Response" To Platinum PS3 Series
Everyone loves a bargain, and you can't find a much better bargain for next-gen games than the Platinum titles for the PlayStation 3. Games like Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavenly Sword, MotorStorm, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction can now be nabbed for half their original price.
And according to MCVUK, the response to these deals has been excellent. Sony is currently "gearing up for its second batch of releases," and in the meantime, the first £19.99 Platinum titles are hot sellers. Sony product manager Phil Lynch indicated great retail sales behind the early Platinum success; if you're wondering, a title must sell over 400,000 copies in order to be eligible for the bargain series. Said Lynch:
"We are delighted with the response to the Platinum campaign from consumers and retail partners alike. With Platinum ranges already established on PS2 and PSP, the addition of a PS3 range has been very well supported at bricks and mortar retail with dedicated Platinum bays in-store. And on our online retail partners sites, many have created dedicated channels to make it easy for consumers to find them.
For consumers, its a great reference and a good seal of approval. This is especially useful for the gifting market, as there is so much choice these days within the range. The iconic yellow stands out and the buyer knows that the game has already been enjoyed by several hundred thousands of other gamers."
We'll let you know as soon as Sony unveils the next batch of Platinum titles, and hopefully, they'll have them ready for the holiday season. In North America, these games retail for only $29.99, and if you never got around to a few gems from last year, the re-branded titles are ripe for the picking.

Gonna soon pick up Uncharted and Heavenly Sword as well. been eyeing on the price drop for long. Never dropped below 60 each.
I am a RPG/Action Adventure gamer, only buy big RPG/Action Adventure at full price as soon as they are released,(MGS4, DMC4, Assassin's Creed etc) other great titles, I will buy for collection when the prices are cut down into half, so the Greatest Hit with crimson red case works perfect for me. :P

instead of 2 new copies of the game being sold, with all dues given to the publisher and Developer, one new copy is sold then sold to a reseller, who sells it back to a consumer who is looking to save five or ten bucks.
while i personally think its a brilliant business strategy for the reseller, and the Publisher should get over it or pass some legislation, I can see why some would forgo the $10 savings to feel better about themselves.
