Final Fantasy XIII Gameplay Footage "By The End Of The Year"
We've been seeing images of Final Fantasy XIII all year, but only a scant few could actually be considered gameplay. On top of which, we certainly haven't seen any gameplay in video form, which is something everyone is waiting for.
However, according to Final Fantasy XIII-net, (details translated by a NeoGAF forum member), the latest information tells us we will see gameplay footage for FFXIII before 2008 is out. Square-Enix's Tetsuya Nomura spoke about the game in a Gemaga interview, and he says we will "see a battle scene in FFXIII before the end of the year." He also mentions the benefits of Blu-Ray for their ambitious RPG, and furthermore, they should soon release information on the game's expected-to-be-stellar voiceover cast. For many, this game remains the most anticipated title of the new generation, and despite the delays, it remains high on everyone's priority list. It is coming to the Xbox 360 as well - PS3 owners still haven't recovered from the sting of that announcement - but Final Fantasy Versus XIII remains a PS3 exclusive, and the PSP will get Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Nomura touched on that in the interview, by the way, and says the current battle interface for the handheld title is only "temporary."
As soon as we know more about this impending FFXIII gameplay, we'll tell you all about it. Is it too much to hope for a playable demo on the Network? It's probably too soon for that, but any sort of gameplay footage this year would satisfy us...for the time being.

-So far all plans (strictly advantageous to M$) are to shelf the PS3 version and wait for the port. Why o why should we have to wait?
-Stolen exclusive of a Sony flagship.
-Dumbing down of an epic game (they have tried to dispel this but with shifty words this reader has trouble believing)
-Many many people bought the PS3 for RPGs alone, and this above all RPG hording on M$s part is pure treachery. We can no longer say "Well you can't play FF on that thing."
Some of this is all petty, and I've cooled off since the game is still so far off now that it isn't worth getting angry about. HOWEVER, as far as a know a game has NEVER been shelfed to wait for a port, a complete game should be released and this is inexcusable. Still want the game, but Squeenix better learn a lesson from this. And, once again, why isn't anybody CALLING them on this madness? All these interviews and no one wants to upset the SE Gods by saying: "Why would you sit on a complete game and alienate your largest fanbase?" That's all I'm asking.

Then we started getting games later than Xbox. That was maddening.
Now we are starting to see 3rd party developers pull out of their original idea of making ambitious ground-breaking games that could only be done of the PS3. Then going multi-plat, now the game is just decent game on both systems. Stop holding the quality of my games back, Microsoft!!! Whatever happened to making art for the sake of art, not the $$$?
That FF13 announcement didn't bug me too much because I know Square wants to expand their market. But what did bug me, is that Square seems to have forgotten which fanbase put them to where they are today....SONY. I haven't seen a PS3 game from Square yet. But Square comes out with 3 exclusive rpgs for the Xbox, then turns around and makes a ps3 exclusive multi-plat? I have one word for that type of behavior:
BIAS.

But if they "tweak" the PS3 NA release to match the 360 version, we'll only need to compare the 360 version to both the NA PS3 version and the Japanese PS3 version, since the latter will be released before work on the 360 version even begins. And the truth will set us free...

I wouldnt think for any reason that they will downgrade the ps3 version just to make it more like the xbox version.

is bad for multiple reasons.
FF13 started as a ps3 project. meaning it SHOULD be better then the port.
BUT in the future, FF titles will be made, with BOTH consoles in mind. meaning they would be of same quality. which we all know, is a bad move.
personally, when Square remakes 7, if they do anything BUT create the most epic FF game ever to be created, ill take my money elswhere, and the only console that is possible on, is PS3.
