LittleBigPlanet: New Content Confirmed

LittleBigPlanet is one of the most critically acclaimed games of the new generation - despite the ongoing PSN issues - and GamePro asked associate producer Eric Fong five questions about LBP; specifically, what's next for the masterful platformer?

First of all, Media Molecule does plan to continue to release new levels, costumes and other content as time goes on. This will certainly add to the title's longevity, which is already guaranteed to increase due to user-generated levels. Secondly, GamePro wanted to know about possible changes to the gameplay; might they add another camera view option, or perhaps institute power-ups and weapons? The answer to both is basically no, as Fong reminds us that LBP is a unique title, and it's not so much about "blowing stuff up." The last point of interest in the interview is whether or not users will be able to sell their levels for real money, which is a feature that has been talked about at length in the game community. Perhaps unfortunately, Fong can only say there "are still a lot of details that need to be worked out," which means you probably won't be selling your "Nightmare Before Christmas"-themed level any time soon. ...just an idea that popped into our heads; use it if you want. ;)

Anyway, we'll keep you updated with LBP news. The first thing Sony and Media Molecule needs to sufficiently address is this PSN issue; the game has already been patched three times, and there are still significant problems. More patches coming, we're sure.

That's the beauty of this game, it can keep going for years with only DLC added from time to time and some brilliantly genius user created levels (check the God of War level for some massive inspiration). No sequels needed.

Been playing this game with my brother and some friends online. This game is a BLAST man. Hands down for any PS3 owner.

I have an idea for them to make this game even better (although it might exacerbate the PSN issue) A person should be able to link up two or more levels via in-level doorways to the overall effect of one massive level in which you can go in and out of buildings and such. This would eliminate the memory usage limit for a single level. Probably wouldn't be that hard to patch for either. Its safe to say LBP will be a work in progress for a while now, but that's gonna be a good thing in the end.

I was playing online yesterday and besides the initial lag of joining a group of people, I didn't have many problems. Still lag here and there but nothing that makes the game unplayable like before.

That's a bit dissapointing to read. I always had hopes that they would incorporate weapons. I love LBP, but I fear that I can only do so much platforming before I want something more.

It doesn't have to be about blowing stuff up. But being able to take out meanies from a distance with a fun looking gun would be awesome.

I hope they change their minds.

I really hope they don't try to put weapons and such into this game, that would be ridiculous.

I love the idea of the game continuing to expand though, that's great.

Anyone else tired of being punched and dragged around by other players...?

I've been happy with the online play these past 2 (3?) days, but tonight I couldn't load anything so it obviously still needs work.

So I've been playing this game non-stop since October 22nd (yes I got my hands on it early) and I am completely addicted to it! I've completed almost every level in the story mode - I got stuck on the third to last level with the huge spinning wheel. So I decided to create a level and that's all I've been doing lately. After spending HOURS upon HOURS creating this level, I can finally say that this morning I got through it without any major problems. I'll probably be publishing it next week sometime. Also, the online mode seems to be working better than a few days ago. I love the "Sackman Begins" level!! This game is a MUST for anyone with a PS3.
