Alone In The Dark PS3 Demo On PSN

Okay, for Eden Studios, it's judgment day: the PlayStation 3 version of Alone in the Dark - now renamed as Alone in the Dark: Inferno - releases on November 18, and you now have a chance to see if Eden came through on their renovation claims.

A playable demo is now up on the PlayStation Store, and it's time to cross your fingers and hope. The Xbox 360 version suffered from a few serious flaws (and we won't even mention the atrocious PS2 version), but Eden has taken the appropriate steps to rework and retool this promising survival/horror title from the ground up. Supposedly, they have overhauled the camera, inventory system, and even the basic control of the main character has been upgraded. They're also presenting PS3 owners with an "all-new action sequence revealing a previously unseen enemy of epic proportions." Heck, they've even gone so far as to rework the driving dynamics in the game, so Eden certainly listened to the negative feedback from gamers and critics earlier this year. The only question is, did they do enough to save the game from mediocrity and obscurity in this jam packed holiday season?

Many fans of the genre in question already have Dead Space, but hey, you should have plenty of time to beat that bad boy and be ready for another great survival/horror experience by mid-November. ...you'll probably know if it's worth your time and money by checking out this demo.

Wow. I really hope the best for this game. Not only because we have the superior version by default but I hate to see such potential crash and burn.

I have been following this story and I really hope the game turns out to be great. then I can wear the alone in the dark shirt I got a few monhs ago with pride. That would show Microsoft to get timed exclusives.

guys im telling you when i had played the xbox version a few months back it looked like tetris compared to the ps3 version. now i have no idea what they did but this inferno version for ps3 is 100 times better looking, smoother and funner. its an amazing game im buying it. it fu**ing rocks on ps3. night and day compared to the xbox.omg i couldnt believe it when i tryed it last night. amazing game. amust have!

Ok Rusha, you piqued my interest, though re-tooling rarely produces a better game I will give this demo a shot. Sounds like they really rebuilt it quite a bit.

i didnt play the other one but i did play this demo but i couldt figure out what the heck i had to do after i drove through the mall window, can someone help me lol? so i got frustrated and downloaded mirrors edge and OmG!! im in love. the demo kicked my ass so good. but about alone in the dark, its deffinately something i would buy.

request me as a friend "rusha" on psn.. im simply agamer. been playing fps games since 1998 thats when i moved to america heh. this is the best third/first person shooter combo ive ever played. i used to compete in quake 1 2 3 and 4, also counterstrike and used to always place top ten at lan events so im pretty good at this and i know a good game when i see it. metalhead i think thats where the demo is about to end, keep following that girls direction then the old man will give u the talisman necklace and shoot himself and boom demo is over. but yea mirrors edge is on some classic ishhh, the only one im not deleting til the game comes out. alone in the dark is 10 out of 10. graphics rock and the storyline is cool as hell.

does anyone really have the time or the money to play this game? Seriously. Fallout, LBP, R2, Deadspace, and now Valkyie and mirror's edge has been or will be added to my library. I don't have the will to build any interest to this game.

Anybody else in my same situation?

All I can say is I have the PC version and these people talking amazing things about it is really making me feel weird, because that is definitely nothing like I would think of it. I haven't tried the demo yet but I can't imagine it being so much better.

clunky character control and unnecessarily complicated combo controls for simple tasks like smashing open a door. also noteworthy is the poor dialogue that relies on expletives to draw attention away from the not-much-to-say story. on the plus side, it does look nice on an HD set.

king james get a job or a blockbuster account if u cant afford it. fallout? are you bugging? that game is the biggest piece of trash ive ever played. advent child on the other hand is a wealthy dude along with the other 99%of psex visitors including myself who own a pc, however a retard since this isnt a comparison because on a good gaming computer every game looks sharper with maxed out graphics settings. and flux must be a four fingered amputee if swaying your right thumb back and forth is complicated. you girls need a virtual reality head set by now if ure so picky...

It is full of some faults but nothing that makes you stop playing the game. Heck I don't even care about 'em, I laugh at them because some of them are funny. Plus I never connect while I'm playing but maybe they fixed that now? Idk I haven't checked.

@rusha, why are you getting so worked up over King's and flux's comments? Maybe because someone has a differnet opinion to yours? Calm down buddy. I completely agree with King and flux anyways... the demo of AITD was horrible! When I came into this post I was waiting for all of the hate yet I see the exact opposite. So I am very surprised how this ended up...

Look homie, don't EVER question my paper. I've been getting $$$ since I was 13 (jobs and/or hustle) and I'm never broke. So US recession or not, I'll always have cake to blow on my ps3, pc, and any miscellaneous spending I do.

The 1st thing I asked in my post was, if anybody had the TIME (my problem) or the MONEY (85%+ of everybody else's problem). That's it. It seems like everybody agreed. Hmmm, what a suprise.

Don't worry bout my wallet. U just keep doing what u do best...HATING. And did u advise me to use blockbuster?! LOL! Is it '98? In 2008, we download the demo or holla at gamefly.

the last time i played this game was on the ps1, and i couldn't even finish disc one. it was really crappy.......

The game is truly awesome. Atari should've wisely delayed the release. They could've avoided such poor reviews. I played the PS3 demo maybe twice or thrice to feel the difference of gameplay I had from that of PC. It's just 10 times smoother, cool gfx, gameplay and controls improved way better. Now I declare the Xbox 360 version atrocious...(hope a patch releases for it)now they should learn what will be in store for an early rushed timed exclusive. I would rate this new version 8.5 .

Jamie homie... u obsessed with that bible version..is this the way to dump good 4 crap? The list of ur games mite be so good for those earning $$$ and who don't get broke gaming crazy...Well let other souls who didn't have jobs or hustles ages ago as u have finite space to breathe in. I am not mentioning that AITD is best game ever...but it's worth a try. No turning down inspite of R2, dead space or Valkyiers or Mirror's Edge or stuff like that!!I wud instead change my rating to 9 or above after hand's on full game. No matter what, i wud call fallout3 in a stupid idea for AITD out...i just don't like the game.
