Resistance 2 Takes "420 Hours" To Do Absolutely Everything

Perhaps it's due to the seemingly constant backlash from gamers who always cry about how a game isn't long enough; how it didn't take up enough time to be worthy of that $60 price tag. But whatever the reason, Insomniac is hell-bent on letting everyone know: if you wish to do absolutely everything Resistance 2, is gonna take a while.

This past week, we heard it would take "15-20 hours" to see and conquer every possible incarnation of the Cooperative mode. Now, according to Kotaku, Sony says that if you want to "unlock everything" in Resistance 2, it will take about 420 hours of total play time. Now, the single-player campaign obviously won't take 400+ hours (we're expecting about 10-15), but if you want to unlock every level, locate every hidden item and max out every single available class, you could dump MMO-like hours into this massively anticipated FPS. We're not entirely sure if maxing out every class is something most gamers will want to do - in fact, we're willing to bet that few will - but nevertheless, this title's longevity is clear. We suppose that if you factor in the virtually countless hours one can spend playing online, R2 could be the only title you need this holiday season. We're not advising you to stay away from other promising games, though; not with the lineup that will be on store shelves for holiday shoppers.

However, if you had to pick one game, we'd probably recommend Resistance 2 at this point. Early reviews are already saying it's as awesome as we've been hoping (IGN gave it a 9.5, for example), and if the beta is any indication, we already know it's going to kick ass.

I'm hoping the single player campaign will take even longer then 10-15 hours.
But over 400 hours to unlock everything? I dunno if I will do that. But I know damn well I will be playing the online co-op for awhile after the single player campaign.

@Sgt - It's far from generic. And if it's a generic shooter, why are you even going to play it?

lol I played 336 hours of ranked COD4 and another 72ish in private, maybe more. I don't see how I'm going to play 400 on R2

if you're wondering, I've played 14 1/2 days online on COD4. now 400 hours??.. That's crazy. They also said it was extremely hard to get to 10th prestige in under 10 days. LIES

Haha don't worry King James it shouldn't take you that long to clock it. I think it averages out at about 70-100 hours.

I'm pretty sure it didn't take Scarecrow that many hours to BEAT FFXII. I think that's just how many hours he has played.

And for the record, I have logged in almost 1000 hours of play time over multiple playthroughs of Final Fantasy Tactics. So, actually, I win. Just so we're all clear... ;)

@Arvis,
Well actually it took me 248 hours to be the game(first time). And only one playthrough

I did a lot of stuff, I enjoyed the towns so much, you'd always see me getting into the awesome hunts, searching for the best magics and weapons.

It was awesome

I don't know if I believe that number or not. It would be great to see games finally adding more length to them. But I can't play a shooter for that long lol. I just get too bored with them after I've beaten them once. I beat Unreal Tournament four days after buying it and haven't touched it since. Goldeneye is probably the only shooter that I can say I've passed 100 hours on. And the original Super Mario Kart it probably the only game that I have spent more time on. Besides, not all of us play online.

Another true next gen game by Insomniac. They are leaders in their field and an example to all other devs.

@XxNaSaHxX - Why are you yammering on about what you've done in COD4 ? COD is the Madden of FPS. Nobody's here bragging about their 400 hours spent playing Madden.

I'm not, I just don't think that R2 will be as good as COD4 IMO. So I don't see myself clocking in that many hours.

11335 hours of Final Fantasy XI... I WIN!

420 hours for a shooter though, to complete everything... Jeebus. That's nuts!

Thats awesome but i dont need that. Playing Sniping the streets of Manchester all day long was all i ever needed. If Resistance 2 has the classic Manchester map i'll crap myself, i swear. Thats ALL i need. That one map and give me whatever other crap you wanna give me, i'll play it.

@joko - I completely agree. Games are awesome, but don't overdue it. There is a world out there that is 1000X better than games.

Lies. Trust me I'm married. Nothing out there is 1000x better than video games. Some things can be maybe 40x better if your wife has a friend, but that's it. Tops.

More bang for your buck! Im the type that gets a little obsessed with unlocking everything.
With Cod4 I just wanted to make Prestige 10 level 55. Months later Im STILL trying to get all headshots (and I dont play headshots on free4all).
Looks Like Ill never put away Res.2.

Thats the exact way it should be with us PS3 owners. Despite Ubisofts pathetic lack of support i still love my Rainbow 2 and im still an addict and at Elite 12 trying to get even more deadly with my M40A1 lol.
Keep holding it down in COD4, hell im probably gonna re-buy that game ASAP, especially if i dont get COD5
