Dead Space Completion Unlockables

Along with LittleBigPlanet and Fallout 3, Dead Space represented the cream of the crop last month, and with a ton of games releasing at once, that's pretty damn impressive. And hey, there's plenty of incentive to finish it: unlock the goodies and play it again!

You unlock a horde of interesting things upon completing the freaky survival/horror title, and many are talking about the extra bonuses. First up, all the back story logs are now available, which is great news for those who really dug the story. They also toss you 50,000 credits and 10 Power Nodes, which we are usable in a new game (or a New Game+ of sorts). Those credits will put you halfway to affording the Level 6 Military Suit (which costs 99,000), which is also made available upon completion of your adventure. Oh, and you do unlock Impossible Mode, but perhaps that's only for the hardcore who want to see how long they can survive. It might not be so "impossible," though, considering you can start with all your previously acquired upgrades, equipment and credits. Those of you who love the experience - and there are a lot of you out there - probably just want to go through the game once more; it really is that fun and absorbing. If not, well...perhaps another holiday release won't deliver, and you can always go back to the guaranteed goodness of Dead Space.

EA scored a huge hit with this one, and they've set the bar for Capcom's Resident Evil 5, which will release in March. RE and Silent Hill have been around for a while, but did we just see the start of a new - and very formidable contender - in the survival/horror franchise competition? Yep, I think we did.

TheRaPtuRe, I actually agree with you. Even after playing LittleBigPlanet, I have more fun with Dead Space. Although it's probably because Survival Horror is my favorite genre thanks to RE and Fatal Frame.

Anyway, good to hear about all the extras, I haven't read much about this game because I don't want anything spoiled for me. Thank you for leaving out important plot points, Mr. Dutka!

Fallout 3 is creepier than Dead Space and its not even a horror game. That is pretty bad if you ask me.

lol at the ridiculousness of this post, but we are entitled to our opinions. Fallot 3 has NO scary factors to it, NONE at all

The only thing scary about Fallout 3 are the visuals and the third-person camera.

Haven't beat Dead Space yet, I decided to interrupt my mission to play Eternal Sonata, but sometimes delaying the end of a game can be a good thing :)

Just for your information. I am playing on Impossible mode and the only thing that came to it was the bonuses gained at the end of the game. It does not save upgrades or purchases.

Advent Child, to have all your old stats you have to load your completed save and it will begin the game, though you cant change to impossible mode or any other difficulty, if you want to start a different difficulty you have to go on new game and start without you stats. Impossible Mode would'nt be a challenge if you had all your goodies would it :)

Also just bought the suit, i dont like the design if im honest.

I know, the article says you can bring your upgrades into impossible mode, I was clarifying that.

Impossible mode is only available when you complete the game before you turn it back off. If you turn the game off you lose impossible mode. You have to start a new game right after you beat it and save at the first save point.

i'm not bothered with dead space although i know its good. and i mean good. however, i would like to see RE5 do well, it looks good despite the controversy. (to be quite frank i dont give a crap about the controversy.)

Just completed it now, great game i completed it with 49% Trophies, thers only one thing that bothered me, I only liked the Plasma Cutter i found all the other weapons useless and very weak against enemies, did anyone else find this?

Different weapons were good for different enemies. I found the line gun extremely good against the scorpion type enemies and the pregnants, while the contact gun is extremely good against the hulking miniboss type enemies. There were definitely other good weapons but those two plus the cutter were my favorite. And then some were useless. *cough* flamethrower *cough*
