Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Finally Arrives This Month
Whenever there's a discussion about the greatest fighting games in history, Street Fighter II invariably pops up as one of the elite. And now, as has been the case for many classics this generation, it's getting the revamp treatment and heading to digital download land.
According to GameSpot, Capcom is finally ready to release the long-awaited Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which was initially announced early in 2007. Fighting fans have waited and waited, and their patience will soon be rewarded: the 15-year-old fighting gem will hit the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace this month! Foundation 9's Backbone Entertainment handled the overhaul process and the game will now boast a whole new soundtrack, online multiplayer, what they're calling "rebalanced gameplay" and drool-worthy 1080p high-definition visuals. The graphics were "completely redrawn" by Udon Comics, but the hardcore fans may not be all that keen on playing a heavily reworked version of their favorite fighter. Well, Capcom figured as much, which is why the game will also feature the original Street Fighter II in all its untouched old-fashioned glory.
We don't have an exact release date or price just yet, but it's guaranteed to be a great purchase option for old-school fans of the game. Furthermore, if you're of a later generation and missed out on the phenomenon that was SFII, you might want to download it, too...
