Konami Has "No Plans" To Release An MGS4 Expansion
Well, as some surmised, perhaps everyone was reading too much into the MGS4 storyline.
According to the plot of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, there was reason to believe that Konami may release an expansion or extended ending to the game in mid-December, 6 months after the game's initial release. We're not going to tell you the cause for this belief (we remain spoiler-free), but let's just say it was a very popular rumor. However, Konami has confirmed with CVG that there are "no plans" to produce any expansions for MGS4. Quite simply, the quote is, "There are no plans to expand Metal Gear Solid 4," which is a quick and somewhat disheartening way of shooting down a rumor that briefly allowed us to remember the amazing accomplishment that was Kojima's last Snake-related Metal Gear Solid. Konami would only say that "all further expansions are planned for Metal Gear Online," and one of them - the MEME expansion - is scheduled to release this month.
Well, in retrospect, perhaps it was a vain hope. Then again, you could attribute it to the hordes of MGS4 fans out there who just wanted a little more Snake goodness before the year ended. It'll be hard to let go of that saga, after all...
