PSP To Pay Homage To The Prinny On February 17
It's a popular and critically acclaimed strategy/RPG franchise, but Disgea did something else: it introduced the Prinny! Those adorable little penguins are actually suicide bombers in the games, but they've developed an iconic status among faithful followers of the series.
And so, Nippon Ichi figured the Prinny deserved a game all his own. We had heard about this title before, but at the time, its existence was only a rumor. Now, according to a report in Japan's Dengeki Online magazine, NIS has revealed that Prinny: Can I Really Be A Hero? for the PSP is coming to North America on February 17. If you're wondering, this will most certainly not be a role-playing or strategy game; no, it's actually gonna be an old-school side-scroller. The storyline is appropriately silly- some evil entity has stolen Etna's candies, and she's so pissed, she hires a special Prinny to go and locate the "ultimate sweets." However, there's nothing sweet and cheery about the difficulty level; NIS warns that this is the most "challenging side-scrolling action game ever," and the player only gets 1,000 lives to beat the game. Now, that may sound like a lot, but if it's as hard as they say, we imagine we could burn through that thousand really quickly.
Anyway, we're sure the main franchise will continue on - these titles typically sell quite well, especially in Japan - so a Disgaea 4 is expected. However, we're psyched for Prinny: Can I Really Be A Hero?, just 'cuz it sounds so off the wall.
