Wal-Mart Saturday Deal: Buy PS3, Get $100 Gift Card
These days, it's no longer Black Friday that marks the start of the holiday season; it's more like the day after Halloween. Retailers are always anxious to kick off the period of time that can make or break them, which is why they love to entice you early on with deals.
Deals, deals, deals. You gotta love 'em. And this weekend, you're going to want to head on over to the closest Wal-Mart and take advantage of several big specials that target the electronics lover in all of us. This Saturday at 8 a.m., the store is kicking off the first of what is guaranteed to be many holiday sales; check out what they're offering. The deal of primary concern to us is that $100 gift card you get with a purchase of the 80GB PlayStation 3. Just think- you can buy the PS3 and get 2 games almost for free, or maybe one game and one controller; multiplayer fun is an absolute must for some people, right? You can also get yourself a $30 gift card if you pick up the now-legendary PS2, priced at $130. And hey, if you want to complete the appropriate PS3 setup and take advantage of the Blu-Ray feature, there's a Sanyo 46" 1080p HDTV right there, for only $798! That's a hell of a price for any 1080p HD set, no matter how you slice it. So if you want to take advantage of a few very sweet deals before the holiday shoppers swamp the stores, get up early this Saturday.
By the way, the actual price of the PS3 hasn't changed for this deal - it's still listed at $399 - but it's that $100 gift card that matters. Who the heck only buys the PS3 and nothing else with it, anyway?

P.S. This is a great deal for anyone that has not purchased a PS3 yet, however, only one issue imo, the new PS3 does not have PS2 PS1 backward compatibility, which for me is important cuz I have to have it for my 100+ PS2 games. I feel lucky that I got the best 60G with the emotion engine.

Anyway, on a side note, with Wal-Mart giving out this $100 gift card (essentially $100 off the PS3), does anyone here think Wal-Mart or Sony lost money on this sale? This just goes to show you how much mark-up on the PS3 there is. Therefore, Sony can cut the PS3's price; they just choose not to!
I'm sure Wal-Mart will have a similar deal for the 360 in the coming weeks, too.
