Fallout 3 Enjoys Global Sales Success

Well, it's clear that plenty of gamers still have plenty of time to play wonderfully sculpted, absorbing, and lengthy titles. We wish we had the time, but hey, we're not bitter or anything... 'cough'

Anywho, Bethesda has announced that its spectacular RPG, Fallout 3, is one of the hottest selling games of the current generation. So far, they have shipped around 4.7 million units to retail stores around the world (it won't launch in Japan until December 4), and the super popular title has generated sales of over $300 million. Thanks in part to advertising campaigns and retailers opening up for midnight launches in North America on October 28, everyone is clamoring to get a taste of this masterpiece. It's one of the best-scoring games of the generation - as you can see by our review and many others - so it's good to know that gamers are still rewarding quality. We were a little worried that Fallout 3 would suffer a bit due to the number of huge blockbusters surrounding it, but obviously, our fears were ill-founded. Featured on over 100 magazine covers around the world, this one is proving to be a massive critical and retail success.

The question is, will people have money left over for Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2 this week? Well, we figure, even if they don't, they'll still find a way, 'cuz we must have the greats in our libraries!

i'm not suprised, this is better than oblivion (from what i've heard,) and oblivion got game of the year 06. i wonder what goty will be this year. so many contenders. but i reckon mgs4. it is just great. great gameplay, great story, great sound, great graphics, great online, nothing is wrong with that game.

I know I'll get a lot of Hate for this but I never actually enjoyed MGS4. I have the feeling it's because I never really got into the original series. I started playing MGS4, and then after the first act, I never picked it back up again. I'll have to give it another try, but I just kind of got bored with it first time around. Which is kind of weird because I'm a big fan of shooters. 1st or 3rd person...

I have bought 4 new games recently: Fallout, LBP, Deadspace, and Resistance 2. I haven't open LBP or Resistance 2 b/c I got goals that I want to accomplish and won't be able to get into them until this weekend.

But I messed up and opened Fallout 3 (logged about 35-40hrs) and now I'm little behind on skool. Gotta ignore my PS3. Thanks Bethesda :)

Sidenote: Plus, PS Underground sent me the code for the Killzone 2 Beta. Why do you do this to me Sony?! I'm trying to have a life here!

Love this game, far better than Oblivion, i've took a break for so i can get into Little Big Planet early on, but im sure ill be playing more next week.

Really? karneli I'm shocked. Frustrated with what? The game is truly fantastic. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. Sadly R2 did come out though and now even I have been diverted away from the game. Trying to trap some bug swarm...

I haven't even done any of the main quest yet lol. I got to Megaton...thats about it for the main quest...now i'm just scouring the post nuclear wastelands :) Totally awesome!

Bethesda deserves the highest praise for F3. For them to put out game of the year in 06 and now this masterpiece in 08? What a company. Others should follow suite.

A sword that cuts and burns. lol ! Pure genius.

Maybe if the heads of Bethesda look at the sales sheet for the PS3 version of the game they will stop being c*cks*ckers and patch for trophies and give us some DLC of our own

Fallout 1 and 2 were probably the best PC games ever made and if you can find them somewhere, anywhere I highly suggest you pick them up and play them hell pirate them and I am totally against pirating because i develop software. That is how good they are.

They had Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel on PS2.. Its almost exactly like Xmen Legends. Its a really great game too.. but strictly for adults only.

Probably because they came out for PC about ten years ago. I bought both when they came out and they are still some of the best rpgs available. Fallout 3 is a magnificent game in all aspects. At first I thought the 3-D viewpoint would hurt it since I was so used to the originals, but it hasn't in the least. The only thing I find wrong so far is that they changed around some of the perks and skills from the originals. That and you can't aim for the groin anymore :(

This game is awesome! We're gonna have 1 hellva race for game of the year this year. I personally hope this wins, but I would still be more than glad to see Dead Space win as well.. Anybody know when trophies will hit for F3?
