Mirror's Edge Complete, Goes Gold

When we first heard about the game earlier this year, we were immediately intrigued. The original concept is what caught our eye, and now, after sampling it at E3 and checking out the demo last week, we're more psyched then ever. So it was music to our ears to hear that EA has announced that Mirror's Edge is complete.

According to GameSpot, EA DICE has confirmed the highly anticipated title is done and now has achieved gold status. This means the game is on track to hit its scheduled release date of November 13 in North America and November 14 in Europe, so mark the day on your calendars. We're certain you've probably already dropped some hard-earned cash on either Resistance 2 or Gears of War 2 this week (or both), but you don't want to miss out on Mirror's Edge, either. Just say, "I'm sorry, Mr. Wallet, but I promise I'll refill you...somehow!" EA is pushing the hell out of this one, too, so it'll be tough to ignore: they're releasing a comic book that goes along with the game's storyline, there's a free Time Trail mode if you place your pre-order, and if you're really gung-ho, you can pick up the very complete $130 Limited Edition package. If you needed a reminder, this is the story of the Runners, who are agile speedsters that defy death with every passing day on the rooftops of a sprawling city. You play as Faith, whose sister has been framed...

Anyway, we can't wait for Mirror's Edge and if it delivers the way we think it can, it'll be yet another must-have title of this still-young generation.

Played the demo..interesting concept, although my first impression when I first saw this was that it seemed geard for a wii type game..just the way your POV was and such. With the heavy hitters coming out this time of year, We'll have to see how well this title does.

Really? I don't see this as a Wii game at ALL. I guess maybe because I instantly turned off the motion controls. ;)

I think I worded that wrong. It was just the impression I got when I first turned it on. Kind of reminded of the adds I saw for Red Steel when the Wii first launched. I think it has something to do with the fact the the Point of View doesn't look the same as what you would see in a First Person Shooter.
It would be neat to see this game linked with the PSEYE or something. But I just wasn't that intrigued with the demo as a controller game. Follow the red objects? Seemed a bit off..I might rent it when it comes out though and give the full game an honest try.

I played the demo and was immensely entertained. However, the game does not seem to be free-roam at all and is completely linear. I do understand that it is just a demo and the real game might be completely different so I'll be eagerly waiting for the review and decide off of that.

I saw a commercial for this game, and it got rated 10 out of 10 from one source. Anyone else seen it?

Since when do games go gold 5 days before release? I call shenanigans. I think the game went gold AT LEAST two weeks ago. Or else there is no way it would release on time.

I've been playing the demo and I really love it. My only issue with it is the camera angles when I'm trying to beat the crap out of one of the cops.

Other than that I reallyreally love it. : D

Yeah, I was not thrilled at all with the demo. I would say that if I pick up a game, I can catch on pretty quickly to the controlls. I couldnt figure out the damn training areas, and got bored with it really quick. Maybe I'll rent it when it actually comes out, as I have noticed differences in demos then the actual game themselves when they are released, like Bioshock. Took me about an hour to realize that the fire plasmid was not where it was in the demo in the actual game! haha

If they really wanted to do well with this game they should have spent a little more time polishing it and release it early spring or summer to have more of a shot at selling.

Going up against Giants in the Holidays can only spell lackluster sales for a new IP.

Must be just me- I really enjoyed the demo (except the excessive aliasing, which is very conspicuous, and the somewhat empty streets below) - but everything else was good - immersive, matrix-style feel, great design (colours, aesthetics etc), good learning curve. I agree that from the demo it's hard to tell how this will translate into a fully-fledged game with storyline and sufficient variation, but so far I'm intrigued...

I think ME is one of the best next-gen demos I've played. I can't wait to play the full version. Finally! Something more than just a pretty PS2 game!

Yup, I loved the demo too. but who else thought the beam-balancing portions were really unforgiving? I fell off, like a million times before i passed that area. I didn't know that you could turn off the motion controls though, so I'll try it again and see if that improves things.
I also wish the full game would have a way of recording your game like Ninja gaiden 2 or Halo 3. It would be your very own Parkour movie!!

Well, hats off dude. Me, I think since my roommate seems to do better on the beams portion, I'll just "outsource" those parts to him! ;-)

i was and am still totally loving that demo. ive played it a bunch of times. the controls are spot on and the visuals are fantastic. even if the game is a little on the linear side ill forgive it cause its really just an experiment in that it has never bin done before but hats off to ea for delivering yet another bad ass game.

lol...I see ppl on here making comments about how the controls and the motion was throwing them off. 2 friends of mine said the same thing.

But, I "heart" the demo. The controls are very intuitive. After my two play-through of the demo, it started to free natural. I think that DICE is on to something with this concept. The game is pretty much bought for me, unless I find out that sum'en drastic like the game is short or sum'en.
