150 Circuit City Stores Closing, Bargain Gaming Deals Coming?

It's not typically the place to go to find gaming deals, but now...well, it probably is.

According to BingeGamer, Circuit City is closing down 150 stores nationwide and because of that, you can expect a whole lot of "Everything Must Go!" sales. We have no idea what kind of hardware or software sales might be going on, but at this point, it'd be tough to categorize them as "sales." Everything is guaranteed to be marked way down, so perhaps you should take it upon yourself to wander over and see what you can find. There should be plenty of other items in there to peruse; maybe you need a new keyboard or mouse, or perhaps you're just running low on printer paper. Either way, what with all the many, many games that are out - and coming out - you'll want to try to save as much as humanly possible, but without putting a stop to your favorite hobby. New games are an agreeable $60, but these days, it can be tough to keep shelling out the cash for games, as awesome as they may be. So if you desperately want both Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2, doomed Circuit City stores may be the only store around to sell them for less...

Is the Circuit City in your town closing? Well, check the unfortunate list to find out, and then stop over this weekend to see if you can nab some unbelievable deals. We don't wish to make light of a company's dark days, but bargains are bargains.

I am confused. I have two on the list near me, but I can not find them on circuit city's store locator on the web site. When are they closing? Store 449 and 4301...

I think they already took the closing stores off of the store locator. It's the same with the couple stores near me.

None in Canada? Although they're called The Source by circuit city here and they're actually just old Radio Shacks. They don't have a lot of selection for console gaming...

The sales aren't exactly "bargains". Systems and games are only hitting 5% to 10%. They will ship their remaining product to the many other Circuit Cities not closing. Unless you're walking distance to a store, you'll save your time and money finding much better deals on Amazon, eBay, or cheapassgamer.com

I live in Canada so we don't have a circuit city, but it's sad to see another big store having to close it's doors due to the financial crisis and so close to christmas. sorry to hear about people who lost their jobs.

Understand, this is not due to the financial crisis by far.. Circuit City has simply been outclassed in every field by Best Buy.

It's been years now since Circuit City has had good business, thought this was coming some time ago honestly.

They will probably just ship inventory to another Circuit City that is not closing.

Circuit City online, most games will get you a 10 dollar gift card right now though.

Let me tell you about my experience with circuit city if you want to change your mind about them, Ben. When I bought my 60 gb. there back in July, 2007 Circuit city gave me 2 extras that none of the other retailers had at the time. For starters, Circuit city was the 1st store to offer the "5 free blu-ray movies by mail-in-rebate" (which I took full advantage of). They also gave me an extra sixasis controller (so I had 2 controllers in all, counting the controller that already came with the system). I know that 2007 is in the past and that circuit city doesn't have those offers any more, but I do know that they recently gave out $10 gift cards for people that bought certain games, such as Midnight club L.A. while most other retailers didn't.

Wow. Too bad mines not closing. Reasons why:
1) I hate Circuit City... which could then be replaced by Best Buy. =)
2) Too many people work there and constantly annoy you
and 3) They smell.

Lol, that's at least my experiences with them.

I would rather have the salespeople annoy me then to always have to find one, which could take an hour to do, especially in my local wal-mart (or best-buy on rare occasions)

@ Dingodial - You need help from sales people at BB and WM ? I hope you're joking. Just walk up to the cash and say "hey you! gimme LBP !"

He means "help" as in finding some1 to open the cage to get a game or sum'en. I waited 15 minutes and talked to like 6 employees at Wal-mart b4 some1 got Fallout3 for me. And no customers were there!

I always say, "Don't come to Wally's World for service."

Seriously - the name Best Buy is false advertisement. I had bad experiences with their Geek Squad. Never again. And for such a large store, you'd think the overall volume would reduce their prices like Walmart. FYI-Majority of Best Buy workers have no idea what they are selling.

And unfortunately, CC employees actually have to be somewhat knowledgeable since they work on commission. too bad, both companies sell the same stuff pretty much.
