GT5 Races Into Stores This Spring?

Okay, even though the evidence wouldn't sway any jury in the land, we have to admit: our anticipation level has risen another notch, and our hope that Gran Turismo 5 will release a good deal sooner than expected remains very much alive.

Last week, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi laughed at the idea of GT5 slipping into 2010 and then said the game would arrive "earlier" than we all might think. And now, as AutoGaming.net points out, the UK's Car Magazine may have let a little something else slip- there's an article in the most recent edition that talks about the Citroen GT concept car, which ought to be interesting in and of itself. But in that piece, it says the car will be on display in GT5 this coming spring. ...really? That sounds almost too good to be true, and unfortunately, it's well known that these magazines aren't always 100% correct when it comes to certain facts. However, Yamauchi is typically very close to the automotive industry and because Polyphony needs a host of licenses and permissions when it comes to this stuff, Citroen may be aware of certain dates. For now, all we know is that Polyphony plans to continue to update Gran Turismo 5: Prologue with fresh content while we wait, but they can't keep that up for very long. We're gonna want the final product at some point, damnit!

And if Gran Turismo 5 actually does drop some time this spring, we'll be super crazy excited. We loved Prologue and we know GT5 will rock the house, so...could this be true?

Um, that car is already in GT5: Prologue. But the rumor about a spring release has gotten me excited! This really is the best gen of gaming so far. I cant remember the last time so many good games cam out so close together.

I can't wait for GT5 to be released. I just hope it is better than Forza Motorsopert 2. Please Polyphony don't let me down because I have such high hopes for this game.

How long does it usually take for a GT title to release on a new system? I don't recall but it might be a good measure.

Haven't played GT5: Prologue, mainly because I didn't have a PS3 when the hype was high LOL.
But Gran Turismo 4 was the most epic car game (even for a simulation it was as fun as every car game) I have ever played. Made me appreciate car techniques and breaking more LOLZ (which my age group of friends don't value as much, if at all). Though I don't need to say it cause' everyone knows how good it was.

A full PS3 Gran Turismo in the early quarters of 2009 would be eXtreme. I'd be broke after buying Resistance 2, maybe COD: World at War, Killzone 2, God of War III and Final Fantasy XIII - plus GT5. Though I wouldn't be able to afford them in the 1st place LOL I need a job. I'm just a kid xD.

The GT games I always seem to go back to. I buy it new, play it for a week or so, then play it about 2 weeks after, then 2 weeks after that. But a game like RaceDriver Grid I play for a week then don't play it ever again. Ha!

Keep dreaming PSX dudes. This Spring ? are you kidding ? They just released a major update for Prologue dubbed Spec III, and you guys think we're getting the Full game that early ?

No we're not. PD and Kaz have always had high expectations for their product and the fact has always been shown in how they tend to delay their products.
Furthermore, us GT addicts who play and STILL love Prologue don't really need the Full game yet anyway.
Ask any Prologue player and he'll tell you, just give me private rooms and that's all we need save for more content.

Its too bad you guys "loved" Prologue and it doesn't sound like you still appreciate. There have been prologues before and North America never got them, we must all remember to be grateful for PD has given us and stop asking incessant questions about the full game. Prologue beats about every racing game on PS3 and unless NFS is much better than before it will remain so, but thats Apples and Oranges really.

I don't get this news. Why say the Citroen GT Concept will be showcased in GT5 when it's already in the prologue?

Whatever the case, GT is the best racing series to date by a wide margin. I don't see how Forza 2 can compete with GT5's content. GT5 does rally, Formula 1s, B-spec, loads of cars, lots of tracks, endurances, photo mode....and now, drifting, GTTV, damage, online, updated physics, accurate recreation of interiors (cockpit view), psp connectivity, 16 cars in one track, and even has strong relationships with manafacturers like Nissan, Ferrari, Lotus, and of course, Citroen. Please don't get me started on the graphics...

I might've missed something, but you get the idea.

If you played the 4th one on PS2 then you probably noticed that it had the Audi R8 (GT4 called it the "Le Mans Quattro"), the Pontiac solstice, and the mazda CX-7 despite GT4 coming out in 2004 which was at least 3 years before these great vehicles even came out. GT5 will be the same way.

Way too hard and far too technical for me. Just reading this article gives me the shivers and sends me off to play Fallout 3.

The GT series is easily one of the most engrossing racing games of all time if not THE most. I cant even begin to tell you how many hours i have sank into them. Half the time I wasnt even completing any of the races! I kid you not; i would set time trials and drift in free mode and then in 4 do photo mode for just as long after that. Then i would photoshop them and post them on the gtplanet forums... Seriously.

Probably the most hours ive put into any game(s) (with perhaps 1 or two exceptions - MAYBE). Sigh i need a PS3. : (

I ditto this GT love. Aside from my beloved RPGs, no other game has taken up as much of my life as Gran Turismo.

I would rather get the full game this spring than to get Prologue and load down my hard drive with all these stupid add-ons.

Yeah the employee at my GameCrazy said to just wait lol. I'm sure prologue is great but I'm not that super excited to get it, especially if the full copy comes out next year.

I guess Prologue may be a good deal in terms of how many cars it has (it has about 60 vehicles and cost $40 compared to midnight club L.A. which only has 45 and cost $60) and the graphics are sweet but I agree with you Daedusian.

Meh...
I dont think this is true. Doesn't matter to me, anyways - I'm not one for racing games. Although, I must say, I did enjoy GT3 quite a bit.
How about a FFXIII spring release? hehe...
