Free Realms Beta Sign-Ups Begin
As if you didn't already have enough to do, we bring you the news that it's sign-up time for Sony Online Entertainment's newest MMO, Free Realms.
Well, for the beta, anyway. This will be a free-to-play MMO - none of that monthly payment garbage - and while it should be similar to other massively multiplayer online experiences, it will clearly be geared toward a younger audience. It's like a colorful and less serious version of World of Warcraft; the characters are humorous, there are plenty of mini-games, and for the most part, you can lose yourself in a dynamically designed animated world. For more information and to sign up for the beta, head on over to official site and check it out. They've got a video there under "What's Free Realms?" that will best showcase the upcoming title, and chances are, this one will appeal most to the teenage crowd who have plenty of extra hours in the day. And if you don't think multiplayer cartoon-y titles can work, we remind you of the GameCube's Animal Crossing, which was extremely popular.
Of course, a lot of you are probably waiting for more news concerning SOE's other project, MAG. Recently unveiled at E3, this is the one that will boast 256 players at once, and that ought to intrigue many a gamer out there.
