Dracula Sinks Teeth Into Next-Gen
They may be ahead of themselves, but Halloween is the perfect time to announce a new survival/horror title.
The Collective, a division of Foundation 9 Entertainment, has announced it has started developing Harker, a creepy, scary folklore-based action game based on Bram Stoker's famous novel, "Dracula." Gamers will take over the role of Jonathan Harker, who embarks on a dangerous mission to avenge the legendary vampire's attack on his beloved Mina. Harker (kick-ass name, by the way) will have a variety of weapons at his disposal, all of which designed to wreak havoc amonsgt the blood-thirsty denizens of the night.
"Harker's goal is to bring an in-your-face, visceral, and personal style of combat to the survival horror genre," said the game's producer, Nigel Cook. "None of these vampires are going to die with one shot. They're going to fight for their survival, which will give the player a huge level of satisfaction when they successfully execute one."
The developers have some experience with vampires, as they were responsible for the acclaimed Buffy the Vampire Slayer title, so that's some good news. Harker is scheduled to unleash his tirade some time in 2008 for "next-gen consoles" (currently unspecified).
