First Black Friday Video Game Deals

Black Friday is creeping up on us, and if you have a super ambitious wife or mother who absolutely must be at the stores when they open that day - what is that, like 3 a.m.? - you might want to tag along this year. Yeah, you can get some gift shopping done, but don't you want to nab some deals for yourself...? Sure you do.

Thanks to GamerDeals, you can examine a slew of bargains that several major retailers have on tap for Black Friday 2008. There are all kinds of stuff here. Amazon will make "one special offer" that will be presented in limited quantities, and they'll also feature Gold Box & Lightning Deals, as usual. Best Buy will offer a 80GB PS3 package; it comes complete with Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and a copy of the Blu-Ray movie, "Casino Royale" for only $399.99! Sears and K-Mart will be doing Guitar Hero III bundle packages (probably clearance stuff for the sake of Guitar Hero: World Tour), and as we get closer to the day, expect to see more deals pop up from various retailers. Just don't expect anything from GameStop; they don't "do" sales; never have, probably never will. We'll try to see what places like Wal-Mart and Target have planned, and if it's significant enough, we'll let you know about it.

Nothing wrong with saving a little money this year, so why not take advantage of these Black Friday game deals? It would cut your wish list down a lot, and you wouldn't have to rely on others to satisfy your video needs this holiday season. :)

I got a 42" 1080p LCD for about 800 bucks last black friday, a pretty sweet deal. I don't really have much to buy this year, so I'll probably stay home.

What brand? I paid $1,500 for my 1080p 42" Sony Bravia in July 2007... couldn't wait! ;)

Two Saturdays ago Wal-Mart had a 46" Sanyo 1080p for $780. The only drawback is that it was a Sanyo.

I needed a second TV for the bedroom, so my wife wanted to pick it up and put it in the living room and move the Sony into the bedroom. I instead convinced her to buy the 32" 1080p Toshiba Regza for $558.

Anyway, I'll get to see how the Sanyo looks when we visit the inlaws in Texas for New Years because my brother-in-law convinced them to buy it.

BTW, that was the same day Wal-Mart was giving out the $100 giftcard with the PS3. Bought three of them: one for the bedroom, one for my wife's siblings, and one for my parents.

Hey Ben, let me know if you find somewhere where I can get Valkyria Chronicles for under $40. Otherwise, Gamefly will never get that game back from me. :)

What are they selling it for on the "keep it" option? I've had gamefly for over a year now and they give me a 5 buck coupon every 3 months and I get 10% off on all my purchases. The most I've seen a new game sell for is 49.99 and that was only Call of Duty 5. regardless of any discount.

Black friday is time to hang out, be quiet and let the women run wild. Can't abide it.

Well... Deleted User is right for once. GameStop does do deals on used games... B2G1 free. And they routinely send out 20% off coupons for used games.

HA! Someone on here should change their screen name to "Deleted User." Actually, Flying Ape should change his name to that to save Ben and Arnold the trouble...

@JPBooch: I can "Keep It" for $42 (I'm at the same level as you) but I'm hoping that goes down for the holidays. I just spent $30 on Midnight Club and I'm hoping I can get Valkyria for the same amount.
